Rating: Should be safe..if not I'll change it

Before he could finish Melind cut him off. "Of course I care." Trying to play it off. Rick, being Rick, knew instantly."Alot....you care about me alot"
Melinda tried to put up her wal when it came to him,but the look he was giving her,she knew she was caught. "What do you want me to say." she tried to hold back the tears she knew were coming,from his leaving."I do ok..your my...best friend and your choosing a pile of artifacts over me." The tears fell freely now."There ...happy."
He was happy that she admitted it,but he hated to see her cry."Something like that." He moved hid hand to her cheek and wiped the tear tried to lighten the mood by being his goofy self. "Can I have a hug..one of those big chesty squeezy ones." She hit his shoulder playfully,"Don't be a jerk." she wondered how he could do that,make her fell a range of emotions with a few course he was right,she did care for him,even more then she would admit to thoughts where abruptly cut off when he pulled her into a was shocked,that he took the initiative ,but the soon subsided and she hugged him back,trying not to think on how good it felt to be in his they held each other,both of them felt there emotions start to spill knew it might be a long time vefore he got to see her again,and he didn't want this to felt him tighten up,and she knew,she didnt want him to go,if she did he might disappear.
She knew she had to let him go,it was the only fair thing to do,besides Jim was probably wondering where she was . So She pulled back reluctantly,which made their eyes meet,neither of them knew who moved first,but they both felt themselves being pulled instingtivly closer,till their lips met in a chaste kiss,that led to another,then another,before they knew it there where both in a heated makeout was only broken up by a car alarm going off,both of them pulled away awkwardly,but breathlessly. "Melinda..I.." he tried to stammer out. She bit back a hint of amusment,the great Professor Payne at a loss for words.
She let him off the hook."I know,I'll miss you to,so stay safe." She was about to free herself,when he heard his unually husky voice say "You sure you don't want to come by and see me off"
Suddenly the tables were turned ans she was at a loss."I..I really have to get back...to...Jim ,he's waiting for me." she finished lamely
"Ah...I see." he tried not to look disappointed "Guess I'll see you when I get back." Melinda looked back at him with a raised eyebrow."it's not like you don't have a phone or an email,we will stay in contact"
It took all his strenth to pull away from her "Right ..you got me there." "I guess I should be going..got some more packing to do." Melinda already missed his warmth "Ok Rick...you just remember to be safe ok." she added silently "And come back to me." He took one last look at her with a smile and a wave,even thought his heart was breaking,got into his jeep and drove off. She was smiling untill he got out of sight,then a few more tears fell.
She composed herself and look the the doors of the resturant trying to find her seems they were off in there own little didn't even seem to notice she was gone.
"Maybe.." she thought to herself as she brushed back a strand of loose hair "Maybe I will go...see him off."
This was just to get back in the swing of writing agian..so don't judge me to harshly.
