The Man in the Moon had been around for a long time. Eons at least, maybe even forever. He wasn't sure and he'd never met anyone older than he that could answer that question. In that time he'd seen so many changes in the universe and in his own little blue planet below. Stars had died and new worlds had been born as he'd watched. The human race had grown stronger, and he'd seen each of his guardians come to be. Having lived for so long gave him the wonderful ability to wait and be patient.

However it had taken all of five seconds for him to start to lose his temper.

Manny almost couldn't believe that had happened, it almost seemed impossible to him. It was rare that he actually spoke to any of the immortals. He knew better than to meddle too much in the world. The effects could be disastrous. It was safer for everyone if he kept his distance, only interfering when absolutely necessary.

But at the moment he could see a very good reason to meddle a little. The situation hadn't been great but it was quickly getting worse. So he'd stepped in. But the man's reaction had floored him.

Manny knew that he'd be upset, so he'd waited till the man was all alone to send his moonbeams across the sky down to the black cloaked figure who was seated on an old wooden bed frame with his arms folded across his chest.

Then the impossible happened. As the gentle moonbeams started to cover him Pitch jumped to his feet, shot him a glare, then stuffed his fingers into his ears. Manny's moonbeams froze where they were in shock as with a cold smirk Pitch started humming loudly and off key.

Humming and working hard to ignore the moonbeams he jumped onto the bed then down into the dark pit he called home, effectively shutting off all communication as the soft moonbeams just could reach down into that dark place.

It was five seconds later that Manny had gotten over the shock of what had just transpired and got angry. It wasn't as if humming or stuffing his fingers into his ears could have blocked the Man in the Moon's message since he spoke to their minds. But it was the principle of the matter that his actions clearly displayed that he was refusing to speak with him.

In all the time he'd worked with the immortals this had never happened! Then as his anger faded Manny began thinking of how to get his message to him. It was very important, vital even, that something was done to right the situation. If it wasn't rectified soon it would throw the world out of the delicate balance it so needed.

Considering the gravity of the situation Manny turned his gaze away from the bed frame. If Pitch refused to speak to him, he'd just have to find someone to deliver that message.

Alice's musings: A short teaser to see if anyone is interested in reading this. R&R to tell me what you think, to critique, or to leave random ideas. I expect that the next chapter (which will be considerably longer) will be up either tomorrow or the next day. We're in the middle of moving so it's a bit more difficult to set a date.

ALSO I would like someone to beta for me if anyone's willing. PM me to let me know.
