Forever My Child
Rufus ShinRa felt like dancing, for once he was happy. It was his fifteenth birthday and his father was being less of a bastard than was usual. His present from his father was to own the ShinRa Electric Power Company on his eighteenth birthday. He rubbed his hands, three more years and he could be rid of his father and boss that asshole Hojo around instead of viceversa. The Turks, yes he could command them too. His own elite force to eliminate his enemies. They would pay for calling him a shortass. He allowed himself a dark chuckle. His voice was deep for someone so young. His voice had broken the previous summer, much to his delight. He could finally be taken seriously around here. His fine brows knitted when he thought of his father. How he'd love to gut the fat bastard. His gloved hand smashed into the wall.
"Ow. Ha ha. I'd love to do that to dad", he said half to himself.
His mother on the other hand was a goddess to him. He absolutely adored her. He hoped that she returned his feelings of adoration. He had a suspicion that she did because she always seemed to be happy when he was near her.
He was walking around the private suite on the top floor of the ShinRa building.
"Oh mother. I do love you so", he said sincerely to a potted plant.
He was rehearsing how to thank his mother for such a delightful present. He took a deep breath and leant against the wall. There were some times when Rufus didn't know how to talk to his mother. He jumped as he heard a noise, a loud bang. A gunshot. His heart beat faster as he kicked open the door of his mother's suite.
"Mother?", he called nervously.
He looked into the living room. He almost vomited at what he saw. He ran the length of the room to where his mother was sprawled on the white chaise longue, now crimson with her blood. He fell to the floor crying.
"Mother? Why?", he asked, taking her hand and sobbing. Her ice blue eyes opened.
"Rufus?", she said, her voice a strained whisper. He suppressed a sob.
"Mother, mom. Why?", he cried .
"Your.. father made me so happy.. then he changed for the worse", he could hardly hear his mother's light melodic voice.
"I'll always love you Rufus. My little baby.. Forever my child", her eyes closed and her head slumped back. Her strawberry blonde hair matted with blood, she looked pitiful. Rufus, his eyes clouded with tears, lifted her into his arms and screamed with rage and sorrow. Her blood stained his pristine white coat and forever stained his soul. He looked around, the tears soaking his cheeks. His gun, the double-barreled shotgun his mother had bought him today. That had taken the life of his once vibrant mother. Celeste ShinRa was gone forever. He laid his mother back on the chaise longue and kicked the gun into a corner. He fell to his knees and cried until he couldn't cry any more.
He cried himself into a depression that never really lifted.
On the inside, Rufus ShinRa is still crying.
And he will, until the day he can finally join his mother, the late Celeste ShinRa.
