"Loves a Goof"
---------------
Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. That's what we'll become. I even call him by his full first name when I'm angry: Ronald. I wouldn't want to tear him apart all the time if I didn't…feel anything. I always knew there was true wisdom in the saying: "The opposite of love is not hate, but indifference." Ron and I will never be indifferent.
God, I want to rip off his red hair and yell into his brain! 'We're here, you idiot, where are you looking?' He's so busy wanting what he thinks he should want: Quidditch captaincy, full marks, a girl like Fleur Delacoeur…
I could hex that girl to the bottom of the lake. That's not a threat; I could! And she's even older than me.
I can outthink most, I am loyal, and I am honest. Then why do I wonder if I'm worth his gaze? His freckly, confused gaze…I actually wish it would fall on me. I wish he'd look at me like he wants me. Most of the time it's after the fact, when he realizes what he's passed up. Didn't ask me to the dance. Can't even look me in the eye without bringing up something trivial to distract from the situation. Goal saves or "can I borrow your homework?" I could just tape his mouth shut and his eyelids open, and make him sit and stare at me. Look at me, you idiot!
Mr. and Mrs. Weasley…that's what I don't want to become. I mean, I love his parents, but they're not us. I want to tell you how I feel without feeling like I have to bash you in with it. I wish you'd ask.
One day, maybe, we can sit down and talk about it. But now there's only day-to-day. And recently day-to-day is quite eventful. What with Voldemort and everything.
I know…sometimes you dream that you're him. But I don't. You love him like a brother does. Then be his brother! You're tired of sitting in his shadow. So stand up! You already are something good and different. What green grass are you seeing over there?
I'm not a very patient person, but frankly, you're worth it. Thick skull and all.
I know what I'm going to do, and purely for my pleasure: I'm going to walk up to you in front of everyone in the great hall, grab you by your big ears and kiss you! You big goof!
