There and Back Again
Chapter One
It was a week after Ginny Weasley had graduated from Hogwarts. Ginny sat at the dining table in her childhood home looking at a pamphlet for Wales Auror Training Academy, which is where Harry and Ron had started their Auror training a year ago. Ginny had seriously considered going there too, but now she was starting to think," Do I really want to become an Auror, and do I really want to stay in Britain?".
Ginny drifted away from her thoughts and glanced around the room she was in. A few years ago, Ginny would always wake up at this time, and Percy would always come down and join her at the table for a cup of tea. That was their time together since they were little, and now since Percy was out of the house, and it was over.
"It's so empty now." she thought.
Ginny closed her eyes and listened for the loud noises of her six brothers, and her parents. Ron's snoring, or Percy and her mum yelling at the twins for making to much noise, or her father trying to reason with her mother to make her calm down. But no, all was silent. All of her brothers and friends were grown up and off living their lives. Her parents were still asleep. So the house was quiet. Too quiet.
Ginny could not believe her life was changing so quickly. It had all started with Bill graduating from Hogwarts and moving to Egypt, then Charlie went off to Romania to train dragons, next Percy moved into his own flat and spent all of his time working. After that, the twins opened their joke shop and were barely home, then Ron left with Harry for Auror training in Wales, and Hermione was now always away traveling, doing journalist work for the Daily Prophet around the world. Now it was time for Ginny to make her way into the world of adulthood.
Ginny slowly got up from the table to make herself a cup of tea, which always helped when she was thinking hard.
"What do I want to do?", Ginny asked herself, "I mean, I've always wanted to an Auror since dad told me about them when I was nine. But, there are so many opinions out there! I've got sufficient grades to become a teacher, or a healer. I've always loved helping people. Yes, I'll look into some medical schools, just not around here. Dad always said to 'expand your horizons' to all of us. But where? Hermione was constantly jabbering about America…and I've always wanted to go over there someday…I think I'll look into America first.
Ginny was getting excited about her new goal, and quickly ate a speedy breakfast, went upstairs and changed into some professional witch robes, and fixed her hair.
Walking downstairs calmly, not wanting to look overwhelmed, she swiftly wrote her parents a note, telling them where she was going, and walked outside and concentrated on the place she wanted to apparate to…
