Today is the day, the day I tell Max, Fang thought to himself. He had liked Max for a while now, but was too scared to tell her. They were best friends, and he didn't want to mess up their friendship. It was her birthday, and her girlfriends had taken her to get new clothes; their gift to her.

They should be home by now, what's keeping them? Fang wondered. He turned on th TV to pass time, and just settled on the news. They were talking about a suicide, on a bridge not very far from the house.

That bridge is on the path home from town, maybe that is what's taking them so long.

That was when the camera turned to a pair of sobbing girls, friends of the victim, as they were called. Fang looked closer and realized that the two girls looked like Ella and Nudge, Max's girlfriends.

Fang froze for a second, a million questions running through his head. He ran to his car, calling Max on his cellphone on the way. When all he got was the voicemail, he threw his phone onto the passenger seat.

He drove as fast as the speed limit would allow to the bridge. The bridge was over a deep ravine, and if someone fell off the edge, there was no chance of survival.

When he got there, he saw multiple police cars and news vans, but one vehicle stood out to him; Max's car.

He quickly ran over to it. Ella and Nudge were next to it, crying.

"Guys, where's Max?" He asked, fearing the response.

Ella and Nudge slowly looked up, their eyes full of guilt, questions, and sorrow.

"F-F-Fang?" Nudge asked tearfully.

"Where's Max?!" Fang asked, more forcefully this time. "Tell me no-" Fang was cut off by the two girls suddenly hugging him.

"Sh-sh-she's gone." Ella sobbed into his shirt. "She jumped before we could stop her."

Although Fang had guessed this was coming, his heart shattered when she said that.

"No! Not Max! She couldn't have!" He yelled, ripping away from them.

Nudge reached into the car and held out a note to Fang. "It's for you, we didn't read it." She said.

Fang slowly opened the note and read it:

Fang,

I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye to you in person. I couldn't

take it anymore, I have loved you for a very long time, and

I couldn't bring myself to tell you. Please tell everybody that

I loved them, and please don't hate me-

Fang couldn't read anymore. If only he had told her sooner that he loved her. It was his fault she died.

He handed the note back to Nudge. "It's my fault," he whispered, "it's my fault Max is gone. I'm sorry."

Fang glanced over at where Max had jumped, knowing what he had to do. He didn't want to live without Max, no, he couldn't live without Max. He started walking toward the edge of the bridge.

"Fang?" Ella asked.

Fang stood at the edge of the bridge. "Goodbye." He said, jumping.

He heard screaming, but he didn't care, he would soon be away from them, and with Max.
