Steve was the first one up. Always. He'd slept in this morning, but it was eight fifteen on a Saturday morning. Who else in Stark tower would be up?
"Hmm..." Steve hummed as he thought through the possibilities. "Those girls, Devon and Hailey might be up."
Fury had them babysitting the teenage sisters. It had been a bit tense at first but now they were part of the family.
"Family." Steve smiled slightly as he shaved. It had been a long time since he last had one of those. "Stark'll be asleep." Steve muttered around his toothbrush. Tony was never up before ten.
"Natasha might be up." Steve remarked to his reflection as he combed his soft, blonde hair. "If she's up I'll hear Tchaikovsky before I reach the kitchen." Natasha liked to listen to classical music while she had her coffee.
Steve fixed his collar as he headed down to make himself breakfast. He was surprised to hear, not Tchaikovsky, but the Beatles drifting from the kitchen. Steve considered the possibility that Bruce might be up, but he wasn't prepared for the scene that met his eyes.
There was Loki, flipping pancakes in the air like he'd been doing it all his life. Around him, the girls tended to various pots, pans, and appliances. Devon spooned batter into a waffle iron while Hailey, who was two years younger, stirred a pot of berries. Loki was the first to notice the captain's presence and acknowledged it with a smirk and a wink. Steve blushed slightly and nodded. Making up his mind, he grabbed a cup of coffee and some eggs. Reaching around Hailey, he patted the fourteen-year-old on the head as he got to work making French toast. Steve was determined to help make breakfast for, and with, his family.
