Penny was hungry.
No she wasn't just hungry, she was FAMISHED.
Sheldon was at work, and she had been curled up on the couch most of the day watching cheesy 80's movies. She had just finished watching Teen Witch when her stomach let out a massive rumble followed by a swift kick to her ribs. Placing her hands on her protruding belly she rubbed her hands soothingly across it trying to calm the little Cooper that dwelled within.
But the little Cooper wasn't having it as she felt another kick directed where her left hand was placed. Penny sighed and got up from her cozy little nest on the couch. They had only been in their new house for a few months and Penny was still getting used to the 3000 sq. feet of living space in their Victorian style home. Having lived the apartment life for so long had gotten her slightly spoiled and shuffling across the family room and down the hall to the kitchen seemed like a million miles. That plus the fact that her 8 month pregnant body had slowed down significantly recently.
Her golden hair up in a bun with a soft pink oversized sweater, grey leggings, and fuzzy socks on, Penny positively glowed with beauty. Her hair was thicker and longer, her skin radiant, and the baby bump was adorable. Penny, however, felt anything but. Oh she loved her soon-to-be-born daughter tremendously, but she was getting to a point where she was ready to have her body back. Exhaustion, frequent urination, back cramps, flatulence, and her current predicament, weird cravings.
Standing in the middle of her modernized kitchen she pondered what she and little Miss Cooper could enjoy today. Walking over to the counter she grabbed a bag of fresh sub rolls. Carrying them to the kitchen island along with a plate, she sliced one open.
Now what to put in it?
Looking in the refrigerator she spied some leftover chicken fried rice. Yum! She dumped the cold contents of the container onto the bread. Turning back to the fridge grabbed a few more items from it and continued assembling her sandwich, stopping only to grab an item from the pantry.
When she was done she almost wept with joy at the beautiful creation before her. Even baby Cooper rolled with joy in her tummy at the impending deliciousness. She poured herself a tall glass of chocolate milk and sat at the island preparing to dig in. Just as she lifted the sandwich to her practically unhinged jaw she heard-
"Penny! What do you think you're doing?!"
Sheldon had just arrived home with a slightly disgusted looking Raj right behind him.
"Hey honey, just about to have a little snack."
"A little snack? Penny, that sandwich is bigger than my head and it does not appear to contain one single thing from the nutritional guideline that I placed on the refrigerator."
Penny sighed putting her sandwich down, "Sweetie, I know, and I've been really good only eating junk every once and a while. I had my V8 Fusion earlier and a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Right now I wants my sandwich."
Raj spoke up "Uhhh…what's in that anyway?"
Her face lit up "Oh! Chicken fried rice, genoa salami, sliced peaches, potato chips, and sriachca sauce for a little kick," she spouted off cheerfully.
Raj went from looking disgusted to slightly nauseous. "Dude, I'm just gonna go in the other room and set up the Nintendo," he said as he hurried out of the kitchen.
Penny again went to lift the sandwich to her mouth when it was suddenly snatched away from her.
Sheldon stood before her holding just beyond her reach.
"Penny, do you know how much sodium, sugar, and carbohydrates are in just one bite of this abomination? You can't eat this!"
Penny felt her temper begin to rise and even baby Cooper kicked in protest.
"Sheldon," she bit out "you know good and well that everything is going wonderfully with this pregnancy. All of my checkups and bloodwork are normal. I do not eat like this all of the time. Now give. Me. Back. My. Sandwich."
Sheldon met her glare with a hard one of his own. "No."
She slowly rose from her seat. "OK, don't say I didn't warn you."
From the family room Raj heard a loud yelp and a few seconds later Sheldon came waddling into the room.
Eyebrows raised Raj exclaimed, "Dude, what happened?!"
Gingerly sitting on the couch Sheldon replied, "Well what happened was that I should have listened to my MeeMaw's advice."
"Which was…?"
"Never get between a pregnant woman and her food. That was the worst wedgie I've gotten in over 20 years."
"Damn straight Moonpie!" Penny yelled from the kitchen with her mouth full as Raj howled with laughter.
