*~*~*~*

There were a lot of things on that list that Peter wasn't really following. The dressing in bright and cheerful colors for once, but that was just the fact that the FBI wouldn't really like that in him. Also the fact about marrying the Princess – he just told El that they would just renew his vows. That saved him out of many a quick jams when in arguments with his wife. There was just one problem.

He had to find something. And he had to do it without Neal finding out that he was looking for something highly valuable and nothing that the FBI would want. That it would not give away the fact that, at the end of it, he was a black knight working for the other side. He thought about it, looking through his files with a sigh as Neal came into his office. "What do you need Caffrey?" He asked after a long moment.

"Well, whatever you just sighed about, I didn't do it," Neal replied as he looked at Peter. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Peter replied and looked up at Neal. "What?"

"Well, if there's nothing to do, can I go early and go annoy Elizabeth who is nicer than you?" Neal asked with a charming smile.

It was helpful that Peter took Neal's joking in stride. It was better than attempting to kill the man with his choke hold. A choke hold that he did not have, but would in all good time. "Don't bother El, Neal, she'll hurt you if you do," he says with a sigh. "I don't need you for anything, but just go home and keep your cell on."

"Will do boss," Neal said as he gave a tip of his hat and left the office to take a bit of a drink with Mozzie.

Peter sighed as he closed his file drawer and opened up a file that was not in the FBI archives. Or any archives for that matter. He looked over the plans of the boutique, seeing the different places that he could enter. El had taught him well and they had gone over the plans enough in their spare time. He knew that the diamond had to go back to its original owner and that's why he needed to do what he was about to do. He went about the rest of his day before leaving at his usual time. He took the file in his briefcase, making it look like he was taking work home. He always did that, mostly for the cover up that he needed now. He walked to his car, got in, and took the normal route home. As soon as he knew that he wasn't being followed, he turned and went to the boutique. He donned the dark clothes, making sure that he had the mask before he broke into the place. He was careful to make it look like the person he was going to pin this on before taking the diamond carefully. He put it away and made his way out, continuing to lay his plan. It was working perfectly as he got out and back into his car.

Nobody saw him as he drove off towards home, a grin on his face as he realized that he had just committed his first true crime. He liked the rush of the crime and had the best sex yet with El when he got home. Life was turning out to be great for him and this was just the beginning. The next day, he took charge of the investigation into the diamond that he took with the only shock being that they thought Neal was the one who was the criminal. So as much as he wanted things to go as planned, nothing ever did.
