My first fanfic on here. Just a shortie, but I like it. I hope you guys do too! ^.^

Epic Disclaimer: I do not, unfortunately, own Digimon.

What Happens Under the Bleachers….

Everybody knew Tai was going places. You could tell by watching him play soccer. He was so great at it, so focused, so determined. The whole Digi-Destined group was here to watch him and the school soccer team win their championship game.

There was a certain amount of chaos bordering the fine line of grace on the field. The players fumbled around each other to get to the ball. Tai bowled through the mob and gained control of the ball. Moving toward the net, he made a swift, powerful kick. The ball never made its destination.

Everybody in the stands let out a huge, simultaneous gasp. Bells and whistles signified the end of the game. Our team had lost.

"Oh no." Sora, my archrival sighed. I call her so because I had seen for quite a while that her and Tai had a "connection", but I wanted him for me.

The winning team's players rejoiced loudly as did their cheering section. Our side, not so much.

"Well this sucks." I heard Ken mutter.

"After all the work and practicing…." Yolei trailed off.

'Poor Tai….' I thought, 'He's worked so hard for this….'

2 Hours Later

"Still no sign of Tai?" I asked.

"Nope." Izzy and I sighed.

We were the only two left of the group remaining at the game site. A car horn honked.

"Oh, that's my mom," Izzy told me, "See ya later."

I walked back to the empty field, hoping to find Tai. Nobody had seen him since the game had ended and the team had gone to the locker room and everybody was worried about him, especially me. Tai was always critical of himself, especially when it came to soccer.

I decided to go see if he was in the locker room one more time, even though I had checked multiple times before. I crossed the long field slowly and walked past the underside of the bleachers. A faint sniffling sound caught my ear. A dark figure sat alone.

I knew who it was, but I asked anyway.

"Tai, is that you?"

A sniffle was my response.

"Is this where you've been all this time?"

This time I got a sniffle and a nod.

"We've been really worried about you."

"Don't be Davis."

Finally, words!

"Well we are. You shouldn't be so down on yourself." I tried to sound as sympathetic as I could, "Everyone makes mistakes."

"But this was THE game Davis," another sniffle, "and I screwed it up."

"Tai…." I started.

"Don't try to cheer me up Davis. Please." Sternly cold, and angry with himself, Tai got up and started to walk off.

An involuntary action on my part took place. I turned him around and left a slight peck on his lips. There was no reaction that I could make out on his face whatsoever. I walked away.

I don't know why I did it. Perhaps it was his cute, yet forlorn face. Perhaps it was my own urges. Who knows? All I know is that I was glad I did it.
