Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood.

A/N: This is written in retaliation of Season 3 Episode 4 (Children of Earth: Day 4) I refuse to believe Ianto is dead, however this is a death!fic describing Jacks emotions. I have a theory as to how Ianto can't have died, its too much to have taken Owen and Tosh and to now take Ianto as well.

His words tore his heart to shreds.

You won't forget me?

How could he forget Ianto, although he hadn't really said it to Ianto he loved him back, he played around those simple 3 words, 'I love you'. He didn't want to commit fully to the relationship, to anchor himself to Ianto. He had seen those he loved grow old and die, his immortality kept him away from his family, from his daughter and grandchild.

He sat and stroked his face, willing Ianto to fight, to resist the toxin now running through both of their veins, he knew it was pointless, they would both succumb. However he would wake from his 'eternal' slumber and Ianto would be trapped in it forever.

He had witnessed death, and died himself countless times, and although he pretended it didn't faze him, that despite being what the Doctor called a fixed point in time and space and therefore would never stay dead, a part of him refused to take that at face value.

He could feel his grip on this world diminishing as Ianto closed his eyes one last time; slowly he leaned down and kissed the now cold lips of his lover. The finality of the loss of Ianto loosened his own grip on this world; he was falling, falling into the same dark oblivion that Ianto now occupied.

Secretly he hoped that he might see Ianto there; however the knowledge that whatever such encounter would be brief and bittersweet quelled such thoughts from his mind to be replaced with ones seeking vengeance on the 456.

He had begged them to spare Ianto but his cries fell on deaf ears. As he finally lost his grip he fell beside his beloved Ianto, his face set in grim determination.
