Leaning back into her chair, she closed her eyes and let the hums of her ship comfort her for the last time. It was almost perfect; the circuits whirring, the hive of activity on the bridge muffled by the doors. Seven years she'd had to grow accustomed to those sounds.

Spacedock was different. She could feel the rays of the sun she had missed so dearly dancing across her skin, the bridge filled with analysts, not her crew.

She heard the doors open and someone walk towards her desk, a set of familiar fingers stroking hers.

"Let's go home, Kathryn."
