~ Someday's Faith ~

As we stood in the warm rain, you turned your back on me. I ran to you, threw my arms around you, and buried my face in the damp feathers where your wings attach to your shoulder blades.

"Don't leave me," I begged, even though I had only seconds before ordered you to do the exact opposite.

I felt the tension slide out of your body. As I leaned against you, letting your strong shoulders take the burden of my weight, I began to think that perhaps someday soon you would learn not to blindly follow my orders. Perhaps someday you would learn that what I wanted from you was not absolute obedience but rather unflinching faith.

Someday when I tell you leave me, you will defy me and stay. Not today, no. But someday.
