Set after To Heather Or Not to Heather. Enjoy!

After it had been finalized that Heather was indeed to stay, Fishlegs couldn't help the feeling of joy erupting inside him. But that soon was replaced by uncertainty and doubt. It seemed Heather had feelings for him, if he had not read their interactions wrong, but he couldn't deny the possibility of her being swayed by Snotlout's persistent advances. Now that Heather was here, Snotlout had let go of his crush on Astrid and transferred it over to their newest resident.

A week passed and Fishlegs slowly distanced himself in fear of seeming too forward. He wanted to place the ball in Heather's court, for her to do what she deemed most comfortable.

One evening he was sitting by a lake and reading with Meatlug when Windshear and Heather landed close-by. Heather jumped straight off and regarded him with a wave and a bright smile.

"There you are," she said. "I have been looking all over for you."

Fishlegs put his book aside and waved back with a smile of his own. "Well you found me," he joked. "Something happened?"

Heather shook her head, a frown growing on her face. "Why does it feel like you have been avoiding me lately?" she asked softly. "Is everything alright?"

"Everything is fine. Why wouldn't it be?" His face said otherwise. "Hiccup and Astrid are off doing their own thing as usual. The twins are blowing things up for fun. Chicken is chicken. And Snotlout is.. you know," he sighed.

Heather chuckled. "What about you?" she persisted.

He didn't answer, looking slightly crestfallen.

"Talk to me Fishlegs. Please."

Fishlegs exhaled noisly.

"I.. What are we Heather?"

Heather looked taken aback by his inquiry. "What?"

"Nevermind," he retracted his question. "It's not important.

Heather decided to take a seat next to him and took his hand in hers. "You know I stayed on the Edge because of you, right?"

Fishlegs looked surprised but nodded slowly. Heather proceeded, "I have been alone for so much of my life, Fishlegs," she murmured. "So when I realized you returned my feelings, I knew I had to give it a chance. I owed it to myself to be happy for once."

Fishlegs felt his cheeks turn pink. "So you really feel the same way?"

"Yes," Heather looked him in the eye. "I do. I have for a while now."

They stared at one another, both slowly leaning in when Snotlout flew past them, ruining the tender moment.

"Hey Heather, you should come and check out my hut, it's got a great view," he shouted and then flew off.

Fishlegs sighed in disappointed but Heather didn't let his mood sour for long. She lifted his head up again to make eye-contact. "For the record, I'm not interested in Snotlout," she clarified. "Or anyone else for the matter."

This time around their kiss remained uninterrupted.

It was Fishlegs' first official kiss and he couldn't have picked a better girl to share this experience with. Heather seemed to know exactly what she was doing while he just mimicked her. He had already assumed Heather was quite an experiences woman considering she was a few years older than him and the other riders. But he didn't care. The only thing that mattered to him was this specific moment where Heather was kissing him and him alone.

When they parted at last they shared a knowing look before leaning into one another as they watched the sun descend beneath the sea.
