Hello! IndigoPenguin here with what can be considered a companion piece to "Small Milestones". They're not related, but it's a character peek/birthday nod for Vincent. Hopefully it doesn't make you cringe too badly...
I don't own FFVII. Enjoy, darlings!
(Calender)
(Year One)
He had always had a mind for dates. When he was in the Turks, he was the envy of many a fellow member because he needed no day-planner to recall important events. Specifically, birthdays—Vincent was known for remembering your birthday and giving you his best wishes; or for giving you a new pen, or a card, or a gun, but for Pete's sake they were Turks!
And then he met her, and he could tell you everything. Known each other for five months three weeks from yesterday. March seventh? First time we ate lunch together. June twentieth? The day she told me she was pregnant. December eleventh...? December eleventh...December eleventh was the day he was jerked out of a tube of mako, heavily sedated with something, and thrown into a coffin.
Oh, and October thirteenth. October thirteenth, he had been shot in the abdomen by her husband.
(Year Two)
It was some time (twenty-nine years, ten months, two days) later when he was forced out of the coffin by a strange group of people that were represented by a stranger man with blonde hair and a pretty woman with metal elbow guards. Some time ago, he would have noticed her gorgeous hair or her body before the armor, but that was then.
They convinced him to come along with them they knew her son and he left the mansion for the first time in thirty years and three days. Upon his exit, he winced at the sun in his eyes—some birthday—and cursed the decades in darkness for throughly screwing with his pupils' dilation rate. Vincent heard a sharp intake of breath from beside him, and noticed the woman with the armor holding her arm above her forehead.
The woman with the armor...Tina...? No, no he was better at dates that names. But whomever she was, she was just as affected by the sunlight as he was.
It was odd.
(Year Three)
After knowing her for some time, Vincent knew that the armored woman's name was Tifa. He also had learned that she was gentle to a fault martial arts aside, and only a fraction less passionate about things than he was.
Currently, he was looking at her as she shyly shoved the small plate towards his spot at her kitchen table; listening to her explain. "I know that...that some things happened today, a long time ago," Tifa said.
Reeve, you were in trouble.
"But...well, a longer time ago, you were born," She smiled. He knew that, just like he knew that they met four years ago to the day. "Vincent, I'm glad you were born".
He also knew that he first fought beside her three years, eleven months, two weeks and five days ago. And that two years, one month, three weeks and two days ago, she had called him to let him know that Cloud had left her. Seven months and eleven days ago, he had moved to the city to be closer to her.
The man offered her a small smile as he took the fork in his fingers, touching it to the top of the cupcake. "Your sentiments are returned in full," He responded. Tifa beamed.
But that wasn't news for him. He had known that for two years, three months, and one day.

Again, it's choppy. Hopefully, it was enjoyable...as enjoyable as something that took forty minutes to write can be. Thanks for reading!
