Staring up into the empty sky that had stolen his mother, Dean barely noticed his brother's departure. He should be used to abandonment by now; the only constant in his sorry existence.
He didn't blame Sam; he guessed there were more important things happening. It's just that, right now, kneeling in the dirt, encircled by the scorched remnants of Cas' wings, he couldn't imagine what. He didn't care if the world was ending, because for him it already had.
They say 'home is where the heart is', well his had been ripped from his chest and scattered to the wind.
