A/N: Okay, I realize I have one historically inaccurate thing in this story. I looked it up and Beethoven was deaf not Mozart. But, it fits better with the dialogue if I put Mozart in there. So, don't get mad at me over that.

Classical music streamed through the lab flowing around and fully encompassing the area.

"Do we really have to listen to this racket?" Gabriel his annoyance clear in his voice.

"This racket as you call it." Dr. Cassidy said calmly adjusting his glasses. "is Mozart's fifth symphony. It is one of the greatest pieces ever made."

"You couldn't find a country song to listen to while we work or at least something with words?" Gabriel asked.

"Studies have proven that listening to classical music stimulates the brain in ways that other forms of music don't. It helps improve memory and concentration. Just for your information most people are impressed to know that Mozart was completely deaf when he wrote this masterpiece."

"Sounds like he was completely deaf." Gabriel muttered

Ignoring the comment Dr. Cassidy proceeded with the test. "Okay, Gabriel we are going to try and work on control and focus. I want to try and block outside noise and just fous on the music. Are you ready?"

"i'm telling you I could focus on the music better if it was something country."

Dr. Cassidy smiled. " Mozart stays."

"Fine." Gabriel said seeing he was not going to win this one.

"I'm going to open the frequency just a little bit to allow you to be able to access information. I want you to try your best to block it out and focus only on Mozart. Focus on the sound of one violin. Ready?"

"Ready when you are." Gabriel said taking a deep breath, trying to steady himself.

"Okay."

Dr. Cassidy turned a switch reducing the shielding around Gabriel; carefully keep an eye on him and the screen monitoring Gabriel's vitals.

Gabriel gripped the side of the chair so hard that his knuckles turned white as it felt and sounded like someone had released a swarm of bees inside his head.

"Gabriel are you okay?" Dr. Cassidy watched as Gabriel's heart rate and blood pressure began to sky rocket.

Gabriel felt like he was trying to listen through a very noisy tunnel.

"Gabriel, look at me and just concentrate on me and my voice. Slowly make everything else fade away. Try to take deep breaths and filter through all the nose and just focus on me."

Gabriel took several slow deep breaths focusing all his energy on only one thing. Ever so slowly the roar began to fade away to a small din of background noise. He released his death grip on the sides of the chair.

A cautious smiled formed on Dr. Cassidy's face as he noticed that Gabriel's vitals matched his calmer, but intense expression.

"You're doing good, Gabriel." Dr. Cassidy said. "Now, tell me can you hear Mozart? Expand out from just me to hear the music as well? Can you hear it?"

"Yes, I can hear your high fluting music. Can you turn it off now?"

Dr. Cassidy's expression blossomed into a full-fledged grin, turning the shielding back on and Mozart off.

"Oh, thank you." Gabriel said easing back into the chair.

"So, what musical selection would you care for now? You've earned it."

Gabriel just looked at him and laughed.
