Prologue
I wonder if this one likes Red Velvet Lilies as much as my mother does. Did.
I hold out a handful of something... kinda similar, and her eyes get all big. She seems excited, but kinda creeped out at the same time, like she can't make up her mind about this present. She finally goes with smiling at me gracefully, so I grin back like I didn't see her flicker of hesitation. I've dashed out the door before she can form any verbal response, but I get a startled one from Colonel Sheppard as we crash into each other at almost equal velocities. I smother a laugh at what he's carrying—roses. She hated roses.
