Disclaimer: So um, not to offend you or anything but um, this is awkward, I'm not Jo Rowling, so um, I'm gonna go now…
Draco never wanted any of that. He didn't want to become a Deatheater. He didn't want to let the Deatheaters into Hogwarts. He didn't want to kill Dumbledore. He didn't want to fight in the war on Voldemort's side. He wasn't a boy who made all the wrong choices. He was a boy who didn't have a choice.
Draco thought, that with all the lives he had taken, the most he could do was try to give some back. So as soon as the war was over, he signed up to finish his 7th year at Hogwarts. At the end of that year, he graduated second in his class, right behind Hermione Granger.
He then started studying to become a Healer, which he succeeded to do after 4 years of studying, and got a job at St. Mungo's hospital. He works specifically in the children's department. He can clearly remember the first life he saved. It was late at night, and he was about to go home and end his shift, when a small girl was rolled in at top speed. She was bleeding heavily and was shaking terribly, yet she was unconscious, he started to do his work quickly and swiftly. It turned put the little girl had been raised by abusive parents, they beat her physically many times, and she was used to stunning curses and others. But now, she had been hit by the Cruciatus curse, 7 times. After she was knocked unconscious, they had raised her very high in the air, and let her drop again, several times.
Her case was very severe, there was a very small chance she would live. But Draco was determined to make her recover. He stayed for 3 days at the hospital, sleeping for 20 minutes at a time, despite the fact that there were other healers on watch and working with her. Draco would not leave. After 3 days, she finally opened her eyes, and Draco was the only one in the room. He finally saw what the little girl really looked like, she had dark, tangled, brown hair that was in two messy pigtails, and bangs that came right above her eyes. She had rosy pink cheeks, and big, crytal blue eyes.
"Hi there," he said to the little girl. She looked at him fearfully. "It's okay I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." The little girl seemed to trust him and sat up a little and gave him a small smile.
"I'm Healer Malfoy, but you can call me Draco, if you'd like. What's your name?"
In a small voice, the little girl said, "I'm Sophie. Could you please tell me where I am?"
"You're in a hospital, Sophie," Draco said with a soothing voice.
"Father and mother aren't here are they?" she said, looking close to tears.
"No, no, no," Draco said reassuringly, "They're never going to bother you again," Draco promises.
Sophie sighs and the has another thought, "Where am I supposed to go now? Who's going to take care of me?" Draco hadn't though about that. This little girl had no family, nowhere to go. She couldn't just be left on the streets. Especially not in her emotional and physical state.
After a long time of thinking, Draco looked her in the eyes and said, "I am."
