ViNo: Hey everyone! "I'm not yet dead!"
Sorry it took so long. I have been writing, but I just haven't gotten up the gumption to sit down and type any of it up yet.
So now I'm back with a brand new story!
So if you like romance, suspense and high drama……
Then go read one of my other fics!
This story is more focused on emotions, new friendships, maybe a bit of action, but no real pairings.
It's about two guys struggling to (and I know its cliché) "find themselves".
This is a Crossover of Harry Potter, Twilight and the great big adventure that is The United States of America.
And now presenting…… The story!
Chapter 1: Life Is a Highway
It's been a year since that day and I can still see it…
The red eyes, the flashing lights, the green glow and then darkness…
Afterwards, I thought that I would finally be happy. Be free to live my life…
But I don't feel free or happy.
They've tried though, my friends I mean, to make me happy, to help me live.
I don't think I've ever been able to live for myself, or even love myself, now that I've had time to think about it.
So I'm leaving…
It was Remus' idea. He was talking about the years he spent traveling before we met.
Hearing him talk about it, living by your own rules, making your way, learning about yourself; it made me wonder what it would be like. So once he realized how interested I was he jumped right in to helping me start.
Surprisingly, we went about it the mundane way, went to a public library, researched it, and finally decided where to start. He advised me to not pick an ending point. He told me,
"Your journey will end when it ends."
He called the airport while I started packing. When my ticket was reserved he helped me to finish.
We talked as we packed.
He recommended that I only pack one bag. One that was easy to carry when walking long distances.
I decided to leave behind all of my life that I could stand to. I packed some clothes, a camera, a journal and some pens, some money.
There was one thing I decided to take that surprised us both though.
She was something I found in Sirius' attic. I had worked up the guts to go through what he left me and I found her there behind a large pot.
The acoustic guitar I found was of a natural wood, though I knew not what kind.
It was varnished with something that almost made it a black color, but it was truly a very deep red.
There was also two carvings on it. One on the back and one on the front.
On the front at the bottom part bellow the strings, the carved phases of the moon wrapped around the bottom edge.
Running parallel to the strings across the body was the carved words "Vere Anima".
Remus told me it means "True Soul".
Spanning the back was a picture of Prongs, Padfoot, Moony, and Wormtail. There was an additional character to, it was a vixen.
I think it's my Mum.
I taught myself to play it ever since I found it. I feel closer to them when I play.
After we finished packing my travel bag Remus handed me a paper and a pen, then ordered me to write goodbye letters to everyone. I was going to refuse but he reminded me of the last time I disappeared without leaving a note.
I can still remember the sting of the black eye Ron gave me.
So I wrote letters. Promising to return when I was ready to and to write when I could, maybe call on the phone. I gave them to Remus to be sent a few days after I left. Then he shooed me off to bed, saying that my flight left tomorrow….
ViNo: So? What do you think? Are your reading tastebuds tantalized? I welcome reviews.
