A/N – This is a short drabble I found hiding behind a stack of papers. My take on Dursley's reaction on finding baby Harry.

Summary – There was a baby on the front step. Short drabble.

Disclaimer – I don't own anything.

5 AM

There was a sleeping baby on the front steps.

They had first heard about it, been told about it, when the man dropping down their mail through the door had rang the doorbell. At five in the morning!

Petunia had practically flown down the stairs to the door while Vernon went to quiet down their boy.

She had to stop to straighten down her hair and pull her robe tighter around herself. She put on a smile on her face and pulled the door open.

But there was no one there.

Petunia wa about to shut the door when something caught her eye.

A look of pure horror appeared on her face and she closed the door as quietly as she could.

''Vernon!'' she yelled and started to make her way upstairs.

About half way up she met Vernon – and couldn't say a word.

After calming down she finally spoke in a voice that would've made any drama teacher proud.

''He's here!'' she hissed.

''Who's here?'' Vernon asked, having no idea what his wife was talking about.

''The boy! Harry.''

Vernon had a puzzled look on his face.

''Did you actually see him?'' he whispered.

''Yes, he's just behind the door, sleeping like a... baby.'' Petunia was in a full panic mode. ''Vernon, what do we do?''

''Well, we certainly can't leave him outside. Let's get him inside before any of the neighbours see him.''

Petunia turned around on her feet and together they went down.

''Wait, didn't Lily even warn you in any way?''

''No, you know she hasn't spoken to me in years! She just sent a picture of the boy when he turned one. That's how I recognize him.''

Vernon opened the door and quickly took the boy in his arms.

For a while they just stood in the doorway, wondering what they were going to do next.

''Let's take him upstairs.''

They silently closed the door behind them before hurrying up the stairs.
