Disclaimer: Dark Twilight Angel owns nothing except her OCs, Dawn and Skye. The conversation between Cloud and Skye was taken from Kingdom Hearts 2, the conversation between Cloud and Aerith.
Skye was waiting, waiting for Cloud to return, waiting for him to keep his promise.
Flashback
"Is something wrong?" Skye asked.
"It's nothing," Cloud replied.
"Hmmm?"
"I don't want you involved."
"You mean you don't want me there when you go away again?"
"Listen, even if I go far away, I'll come back."
"Do you mean it?"
"Yeah…"
Flashback ends
Skye was now sulking about what happened. She knew she should have stopped him but she didn't, and that annoyed her even further.
With Cloud…
He was perched on Fenrir, on his way back. Suddenly, he heard engines revving behind him. He turned around, only to have somebody fire a shot at him. He barely blinked as his goggles were shot away. Blood trickled down his forehead.
An ambush? he thought.
"What do you want?" He shouted at the three adolescents that were after him.
They didn't answer. The three of them kept attacking and managed to force him into a house with a time bomb with just 5 seconds left on the clock.
5…
"Skye…"
4…
"I promised you…"
3…
"I can't die…"
2…
"I just can't…"
1…
"Not yet…"
The house exploded. When Cloud opened his eyes, he saw Dawn with a barrier in front of him.
"Dawn?"
"Don't worry! We've got you covered!"
"You have a promise to keep!" Marth said.
"And we'll help you!" Ike added.
Dawn released the barrier and they were ready to fight. The three guys came charging towards them. Dawn leapt on the leader's motorbike. He looked a lot like Sephiroth, Dawn mentally noted.
"You're a girl?"
"What do you expect?A guy?No offence, but you look like a girl."
"You have guts for a girl."
Dawn rolled her eyes.
"If I didn't, would I even dare to insult you?"
"Good point… Enough of this chit chat! Let's start the battle!"
He leapt off his bike with Dawn behind him.
"I wonder if you're good at combat…" he spoke aloud.
"Want to test me?" she asked.
He drew out his sword and charged at Dawn. It was reflected back with her own sword. He blinked.
"Not bad, not bad at all."
"Of course!"
The fight did not last long, Dawn won, naturally
Seeing that a girl had defeated their leader, the two others fled.
"Thank you," Cloud spoke with gratitude.
"No problem! Anyway, don't you have someone waiting for you?" Marth teased.
"We better head back too!" Ike remarked.
"Meet you and Skye back at Black Order!" Dawn called
Cloud smiled.
A promise made was a promise kept.
