A Sudden Change Of Scenery
Chapter 1 : Run For His Money
"Hey Carter."
"Hi Millie. How's your day been?"
"So far, boring. All I do is sit in the lounge all day. I wish I could help with the patients, at least a little."
"Well, you can't help with the traumas or anything like that, but maybe you can help me with this little girl in Curtain 2. She needs sutchers but she's only 5. It would help a lot if you distracted her or something while I stitch her up."
"Sure, why not?"
"You can tell me after about 10 minutes," Carter said and laughed a little.
"Why are you laughing? What are you getting me into?"
"I was kidding. Just relax, it's not so hard."
Carter and I walked over to Curtain 2 where there was a little girl sitting with her mother, crying her eyes out.
"Hi again. Mrs. Daniels, this is Millie, she's going to help me out a bit," Carter said as he introduced me to a tall, blonde woman who looked about in her 30s.
"Hello Millie. It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too,'' I said and bent down to talk to the girl.
"Hi! I'm Millie, what's your name?"
She mumbled a little through her tears, "Sara."
"How old are you, Sara?"
"I'm 5. But I'll be six real soon!"
"Wow! You're a big girl, aren't you?"
"Yes I am!" she said proudly. She's so cute!, I thought.
"All done!" Carter said a few minutes later.
"Thank you Dr. Carter," Mrs. Daniels said, walking out.
"That was some skill, Carter. I could never do stitches that fast."
"You haven't had many years of practice, Millie. Once you have, you'll give Romano a run for his money, I'm sure.
