Title: I Wish We Could Be Something

Note: I blame some angsty Sherolly vids/fics and of course the song that inspired this one - Kate Nash's The Nicest Thing. I'm sorry if you cry, let me tell you I've been doing a bit of it. This is also considered a side shot to my AU collection A Study In A Chemistry (still ongoing).

Molly couldn't stand it anymore. There was just too many things that both of them were harboring in the recesses of their minds. No one wanted to tell it all however. Now was enough though. Molly Hooper couldn't do it.

She had packed her flat away and was heading towards Ireland to help a friend out in his clinic. After a week there she didn't know where she would go. She just had to get away from here. Get away from him.

It hurt too damn much. She just wouldn't be able to tell him that face to face. She did plan to go see him one last time.

She knew where he was. He was where she left him a few hours ago. In her lab inspecting cultures under a microscope lens.

For all the things he knew about her, every little observation, every little deduction he wouldn't see this coming. She was careful around him. Ever since this all began. Ever since he returned to her life.

This was it.

Molly was wearing her usual clothes as not to throw any alarms to the older detective as she walked quietly through the double doors and sat down next to him behind a microscope. She didn't need to wait but some ridiculous part of wanted to stay with him longer than a few lingering seconds before she left for good.

She grabbed one of the slides from the case she had been working on earlier on in the day and looked at the specimens through the lens. She knew there would be no change but there was no way she could just sit there. She had been a fool for growing so attached to a man like Sherlock Holmes, she wouldn't do it again.

She switched the slides and look at another before deciding that she should leave. She had wasted enough time.

She twisted around on the stool and slipped off of it. She walked a few steps before turning in a last minute decision and called his name. He turned his head slightly and blinked as if he just noticed her presence. Perhaps he had.

His eyebrow rose as he looked at her. Maybe he had spotted something off but it didn't change her mind. She backtracked and stood directly beside him and gave him a smile before surprising him unlike all the other times. She kiss him first, but then she left hurriedly after that.

That was the end of that, she hoped.

I wish you couldn't figure me out

But you always wanna know what I was about

I wish we could see we could be something

This isn't persay in canon of ASIC but it doesn't fit as of right now so I just needed to get it out. Thoughts? I'll have more of COD, ASIC & What I Really Want When I'm Dying soon. I hope this is okay for now.

Much love,

Day
