Aftershock

After a strange night sleep, Kaidan finally stumbled out of bed. He shaved, combed his bed head, and cleaned his teeth while remembering the last words of the dream.

I'll see you upon the Horizon…

The words echoed in his brain causing him have intense migranes. He finally realized that he forgot about the message on his laptop.

When Kaidan finally opened up the message it was from Captain Anderson. Hr told Kaidan that he needed to get to the Citadel regarding the missing humans of the colonies. Kaidan fully understood, but he couldn't help but feel the need to ask Shepard for advice.

"Commander, are you here?" said a Corporal

"No she's not" replied Kaidan

"Who's not here sir?"

"Oh you meant me yes, corporal, I'm here"

"Councilor Anderson has hailed a shuttle and a cruise to the Citadel for you."

'Oh I'll be there just got to get my belongings."

Kaidan still had trouble being called commander and always assumed that soldiers were calling for Shepard. He grabbed his duffel of clothes and the photograph of Shepard. Before he put the frame in her bag he admired the picture for a minute.

I'm always with you, even when you can't see me, I'm here…

Kaidan shook off the words and finally put her in the duffel.

Finally getting past security he got to the Citadel in the Zakera ward. He was stunned since the last time he ever showed up here; the maximum security, the new clubs, and more humans in C-Sec. When he finally got to the Presidium it had flowed back memories. The first time he ever got to the Citadel, although he tried to act professional, he looked like a kid in a candy store.

"Commander, I'm glad you came" said the councilor. Anderson was holding a report in his hand, two of them actually, however Kaidan assumed it was another colony being kidnapped.

"This is getting serious Alenko, humans are going missing and no one knows happening"

"Anderson, I think it's the only group that we can think of that could do this, Cerberus"

"Yes, my thoughts exactly, so I've come to ask you if you could go to one of our colonies, Alenko. I was thinking Horizon."

I'll see you upon the Horizon…

Kaidan was thinking about the quote again, and this news caused him to almost faint.

"Alenko, are you all right, you look quite ill?"

"I'm fine but I'll accept your offer to look at the colonies."

The Councilor nodded and flipped to the other data.

"There's just one more thing I would like you to hear"

The Councilor got a piece of data from his omni tool and pressed play in a audio selection which played the Galactic News.

"Commander Shepard, first human Spectre, and savior of the Citadel died two years ago… or so we thought"

"What!" said Kaidan

"Witnesses swore they saw her in the station of Omega in the Terminus Systems"

The recording stopped and left Kaidan shocked and trembling, he could barely breathe.

"This day isn't going to get better" said Kaidan to himself.
