Love has to be earned
Peter had managed to knock out Harry after a difficult fight, but in the process, lots of gears went off flying and Gwen Stacy, the one he chose to be with for the rest of his life, was now falling to her death before his own very eyes. Mustering all the strength he had, Spider-Man launched towards but all the gears were in his way, obscuring his vision of Gwen.
Gwen herself was not scared for her own life. Her bravery proved to be exceptional and didn't let go so much as even a single scream of terror. Instead, she feared for Peter, for the fact that she was not going to be with him anymore. She didn't care that she was about to die, she just cared about being to see the one that declared his love to her at least one more time. She looked attentively upwards, trying to visualize the man she fell for. She was trying her hardest to not close her eyes.
Peter dodged all of the gears that were between him and Gwen but he still was too far from her. He thought for a moment to just throw a web at her to grab her, but he realized that was not going to prevent major trauma from happening due to the force she had while falling. Not knowing what to do he threw two webs at the walls to her side to give him further speed. Peter launched himself with all the force he could muster and just when he thought he was not going to make it, he managed to grab Gwen in a tight embrace. Gwen embraced him back as hard as she could. Joy overcame her in what felt like an eternity, not because she thought she was saved, but because in what appeared to be the last moments of her life, she at least was able to feel her love's embrace one more time.
Spider-Man immediately threw a web, and both were left suspended in the middle of the building. Gwen looked at him for a moment, before reclining her head and closing her eyes. Finally, everything was over. She could be with him once more, and nothing was going to stop that.
