My first Beyond the Boundary fic! :) I hope I did well...

I am not really proud of this fic but I may add to it and edit it a bit more later.

Enjoy! :)

Akihito landed on the concrete pavement hard and painfully, a sharp gasp escaped him. Pain was shooting throughout his body, there was silence all around him.

There was a slight chill in the air, he shivered slightly.

Most the youmu had been destroyed, but there was still a few that he could see. He drew in a shuddering breath, holding on tightly in his hand the only thing he had left of her.

His body was sore so he laid still on the pavement, staring despondently at the sky. Ignoring the blood that was running down the side of his face, moving slightly to open up his hand. Resting in his palm was a small golden ring. Releasing a shuddering breath, he laid his head back down on the ground in relief.

Tears slowly began to run down his face. He had one messed up life. Lifting his hand, he stared at it curiously. It had returned to it's human state.

Shaking, he tried to get up but got halfway when a wave of pain hit him in the chest. Groaning, he laid himself back down on the ground.

What was he going to tell Sakura? He promised her.

He was idiot. He didn't even get to tell Kuriyama that he lov...

He swallowed, tightening his fist around her ring. No way was he going to finish that thought. 'She isn't dead' he told himself. He ran his fingers through his hair, tiredly. He was lying to himself. Tears were still running down his face. His chest hurt from all the deep breathes he was taking.

Mitsuki voice rang out in the silence, "Akihito!"

His eyes widen in panic. He wasn't ready to tell anyone what happened. Not yet. It was all to soon.

"Akihito!" Mitsuki's voice was filled with worry and panic.

Great, she found him.

She ran towards him, falling quickly on the ground next to him. She looked at him, her eyes partially filled with relief. "What happened?"

Looking around, she added in a quiet voice, "Where is...Kuriyama-san..?"

He didn't answered, he just closed his eyes.

He really did not want to believe it.
