Chapter I: Rumors
A young, blonde haired girl stared outside of her window, eyebrows pressed together. It was night already; therefore, the dogs were going to start their vicious howling again; even more so annoying when it was night of the full moon, like tonight. It became a burden to her, and she often considered moving to another apartment complex on another side of town where she believed dogs would be banished from the indoors. The young girl, Ilia, glanced upwards towards her ceiling.
Ilia moved into the apartment complex about two months ago, and got along rather well with her new neighbors, except one. Well, it wasn't that she didn't get along with one of her fellow inhabitants; rather, she simply didn't talk this one, the woman who lives above her.
The woman upstairs…
Ilia pondered about rumors that she heard from her neighbors, Medli and Mr. Tingle. Supposedly, every other day, there would be a man who would follow the woman into her apartment during the daytime, but he never re-emerges until the next day. The odd thing about it is that she supposedly owns a dog, perhaps a husky of some sort, but the dog is never there during the daylight hours. However, if you were to visit the woman's room at night, the dog would be there. Some assumed that she just locks the dog away into her bathroom or somewhere while she has that same man over for company.
Ilia wrinkled her nose.
"I know he must feel, not being a dog person. They're too noisy," she thought out loud. Her thoughts then traveled the man who often visits the woman's apartment. As far as her neighbors knew, the man was not living there in the apartments, so he was not the woman's roommate. These facts suggest that he simply often stayed over. A boyfriend or relative, none knew for sure. Ilia's face flushed.
"If a woman invites a man to stay overnight…"
Ilias face was beet-red now.
"That skank! The things they must do! A man relying on a woman who owns her own place, mooching off of her while not being married to her! The man is probably a no-good loser, nailing the woman, eating her food, sleeping in her bed over night while she has to work, and leaves as he pleases!" Ilia threw her hands up in rage as words slipped from her mouth. Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. Ilia stopped in the middle of her tantrum, and her attention when directly to the door.
"Coming!" shouted the short girl as she stumbled over to reach the doorknob.
"Who is it?" she asked before turning the knob.
"It's me," mumbled a sweet female voice from the other side. Ilia wished she could see through solid objects and discover who the speaker was, for it was a voice she wasn't too familiar with. She jerked open the door, and her blue orbs met beautiful, sparkling violet.
"Hello, I came down here to ask if you had a cup of milk. It appears I have run low and I was planning on baking a cake," asked the unfamiliar woman. The woman standing at her doorstep was undeniably a very gorgeous woman, with long blonde hair, white porcelain skin, a perfectly curved figure, slightly taller than Ilia by about two inches. Ilia blinked a few times, piecing together the identity of the visitor before answering the question asked. After a few seconds, she went wide eyed at the realization of who her visitor was.
It was the woman from upstairs.
Zelda Harkinian.
Zelda leaned back into her computer chair, exhaling out her frustration. She turned her gaze over to her coffee table where she watched the husky reach on top to take a bite out of left over cake.
Scratch that.
She watched the wolf.
Zelda let a small chuckle out from under her breath.
"Careful Link, you're going to ruin your figure if you eat too many sweets," she joked. The wolf snickered and walked over to her, nuzzling her hand with his nose. She in reply gently patted his nose and between his ears. "I'm doing the best I can. I've been researching all day, going through thousands of websites hoping to find a cure for your…illness," she sighed while throwing her attention up at the ceiling. The wolf lifted itself, putting his paws on her knees while reaching up meet her gaze. "I know you want a miracle to happen. Wish all this would go away over night, but I'm sorry Link, I can't do much with what I'm given. There's got to be another answer to this problem," she screeched through painful eyes. The wolf let out a small howl-like cry, while Zelda reached over to hug the neck of the animal, burying her face into his fur.
"Come on, let us get some rest," she said standing up, making her way to her bed room, the wolf following her. She reached into her dresser to grab a long, silky night gown. She changed into her nightwear as the wolf jumped on top of her king-size bed. The wolf stared out of the window and glanced at the full moon before letting out one involuntary howl. Zelda came over and slipped into her sheets, giving the wolf one last assuring smile before drifting off to sleep. The wolf curled up into his sleeping form, letting the scent of Zelda's skin tickle nose in a pleasurable way. It was the perfect aroma to put the wolf into slumber.
Zelda's eyes opened and she glanced at the alarm clock to see that it was still dawn. She was usually an early riser. She smiled as she noticed that Link had not yet awakened. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, relaxing, hoping that she would fall asleep. She was not needed at work for another two hours, and it would only take her fifteen minutes to drive to her job. As if on cue, sunlight shot through her curtains and lit her darkened bedroom.
"Would you look at that, daylight already," she mumbled. The wolf next to her stirred, flicking up his ears to hear the comment. Zelda raised herself up in worry, for she knew what was about to happen in the next few seconds. The wolf got on all fours, starting to shiver uncontrollably. Zelda bit her lip, helpless but to watch this scene occur every morning. The wolf's body started to change shape, its hair depleting, revealing beautiful human flesh. It's nose retracting inwards to shape a narrow pointed nostrils, eyes becoming more refined, dark blonde hair growing out from where pointed canine ears had once been.
The wolf had become a handsome man.
Zelda exhaled at the sight, letting out a false giggle.
"It seems like you might be getting used to the pain? I noticed you didn't cry as much. I'm guessing it doesn't hurt anymore?" she stammered. Link, now in human form, snorted while hiding his naked body under her sheets.
"It did, I just bit my lips to hide my screams," he replied. Zelda's eyes filled with pain.
"I'll try my hardest to put an end to this," she mumbled. The man frowned; he didn't mean to frustrate her this much. He lifted a hand to caress her cheek.
"I know you will, and I believe in you. I know you of all people are capable to discovering why I transform into a wolf every night, that's why I don't worry, and neither should you. Besides, a sad face doesn't suite such a beautiful woman," he cooed. A small tint of red stained Zelda's cheeks, which didn't go unnoticed by Link. "You're so cute when you blush," he teased. Zelda raised a hand to slap Link on the arm for his comment, but Link quickly grabbed it and pinned it, along with the rest of her body, to the bed.
"Link…" mumbled the blonde woman, eyes glittering with lust and love. Link loved when she said his name. He reached above her, pinning both of her arms next to her head, and reached to nuzzle and kiss her neck, sending chills down her spine. He released her hands, and reached down into the sheets to grab the hem of her nightgown, and with one swift movement, he pulled it from over her head.
