Disclaimer: Don't own Kingdom Hearts. If I did, well, these two guys points down at fic would have kissed at least once in the game.
Roxas loved watching him play.
His long, thin and slender fingers danced up a storm along the ebony fingerboard, yet lightly pressed and left the wires without an extra sound. His wrist would flail insanely, even at the shortest moment of time. Up and down would his hand slide along the neck, positions changing as swift as lightning strikes. Never once did the fingers fail, never once did they stumble or cross paths. Not once.
His right arm…dear God his arm. It would just twitch as he stroked the bow hairs against the tight strings in short, fast-paced movements, tiny clouds of rosin floating about. It would extend at the rising and falling elbow slowly and elegantly, not even once scratching against the taught wire. The weight he placed on the strings was perfect. Then the arm would pick the pace back up and the fingers would follow, creating a wildfire of a performance.
Roxas wondered why the polished, chestnut-colored violin never caught fire.
His movements were always wild and unpredictable, a real secret keeper. And when he lost himself in the sound, in the overall playing, his body would move as well. When he slowed down, sadly and sorrowful, he would lean down more on his left, the bow being pressed harder and the sound more rich. But when he sped up into his famous tempo, his upper body would almost match his bow direction. And anytime he moved, it was like a liquid flame. Uncontrollable. Unstoppable. Beautiful. Graceful.
Axel arched up one last time as his wrist shook and his arm dragged down in slow torture, the note fading slowly. Then, faster than Roxas could blink, the bow was back at its balance point delivering the last bit of the piece with heavy, fiery staccato.
With a grin and a wipe of his brow, Axel grinned at Roxas as he lowered his violin, rolling his shoulders.
"Well, whatcha think, Roxy?"
Roxas was absolutely speechless.
"That bad, huh?"
Roxas was too speechless to even argue with the red-head.
"Roxas? Roxas?"
He was gathering his voice…
"Tch. Talk about 'blank' with a capital 'B'."
Roxas stood from his seat in Axel's rolling chair and walked up to him, not looking the much taller boy in the eye. Carefully, he wrapped his hands around Axel's, tugging at them. Axel let him take his violin and bow and watched him place them safely on the down comforter of his bed. Roxas turned back to Axel, taking a few steps to reach him where wrapped his arms around Axel's neck, standing on his tip-toes to get as even with Axel's height as he could. Craning his neck up, he whispered his reply in Axel's ear.
"You were on fire."
I wish I could play like that...TT.TT
