Taken
Chapter One
Terror filled her mind, blocking out her other senses momentarily. She tried reaching out with her mind again – nothing. Struggling to overcome the panic that threatened to break out, she began breathing deeply, trying to slow her speeding heart.
The shuttle landed, and the pilot announced her stop through the intercom. She gathered her bags and stood up.
Suddenly a wave of information was sent through the bond as her mate woke up. She saw what had happened, what had led to him being rendered unconscious.
She also felt his pain. His head was throbbing and she could feel a trickle of blood slowly making its way out of the open wound at the back, turning his hair red.
She saw through his eyes as his abductors, realising he had awoken, neared, raising the butts of their weapons and beating him until he was once again, unconscious.
She winced as she felt every blow, and as he was knocked out, she felt herself being pulled along with him.
Jonathan Archer watched as his hosts welcomed their son's fellow crewmembers. The only ones that weren't there were Trip and T'Pol. T'Pol hadn't arrived yet, and Trip had gone out earlier. Somewhere important, Trip had said. Jon frowned. His friend had also said that he
would be back in time for the crew to arrive. He looked at his watch. Trip had been gone for almost four hours.
He looked up as his best friend's mother called him over. He got out of his deck chair and
walked over to greet the friends he had not seen for close on two months.
Once again Hoshi greeted him with a friendly hug. He hugged her back and then reached out his hand to shake Malcolm and Travis's hands and clap them on the back. He also shook Phlox's hand.
He smiled to himself in amusement at Phlox's attire. It looked like he had been taking fashion lessons from Trip, though the garish shirt he was wearing wasn't Hawaiian. Instead, it had the words 'I Love Florida' written on it. Jon had to squint in order for his eyes to be able to read the words, due to the riot of colour around them. The shirt looked like it had been dyed by someone who was less competent than Porthos and seriously colour-blind to boot. Trip would be proud.
"So where's Trip?" Malcolm inquired.
Archer frowned in response. "I really don't know, he should have been back hours ago. Wasn't T'Pol supposed to be arriving with you lot? She probably knows where he is."
"That's another thing." Hoshi said. "We were supposed to meet at the hotel, and travel together, but she never showed."
Just then there was some sort of commotion as a figure, having made it round the side of the house to the back garden, suddenly collapsed. Archer rushed forwards and saw that it was T'Pol. He bent down and felt for her pulse, making sure that she was alive. Then he stepped aside for Phlox who had just neared, carrying his med-kit.
He looked at the readings on his scanner in puzzlement. "There are no physical signs of illness, the only abnormal readings I've got, are some very unusual brain waves, though I can't see how they could have caused her to collapse." He stopped as T'Pol stirred and grasped the sleeve of the Captain, who had been kneeling next to her,
"Trip..." She said in a way that seemed to indicate she was having trouble speaking.
"What about Trip?"
"Taken…" She answered. "Knocked unconscious- in pain… Have to find him." Her eyes rolled back into her head, and she collapsed once more.
