Chapter 1: spider women in dc is born.

-Kimiko hotel-

She sat down studying as her private tutor taught her. Her long white hair. And white eye lashes blinked as her blue eyes stared at the peace of math on her paper. Her white Kimono with bright pretty flowers. Her father was japanese and her mother was American.

"How do you solve the problem for X?" The tutor asked.

She really hated her tutor she wrote down x = 12

"Very good," the tutor said. "Now, on to the next problem."

That was when the door open and an American woman stepped in. "Sorry to cut the lesson short, but I need to speak with my daughter."

The tutor looked annoyed at having to end the lesson, nevertheless, he packed his supplies and said, "I understand, Mrs. Kimiko. Good day."

And with that, he left the room and left the mother and daughter alone. Once he was gone, the mother smiled at her daughter.

"I have some big news, honey!" The mother cheered. "Your father and I are going to meet with a potential business partner!"

"That's great mother," the girl said calmly.

"Only thing is we have to meet him in person. So we're going to America," her mother added.

"I'm assuming that means I'm going to be living in a hotel while you get the house ready." She said in a calm tone her mother nodded.

"If it works out, I may have us relocate there permanently," the mother said.

She smiled slightly she nodded. Marissa took a breath. As she laid down on her bed.

"I'll start making travel plans," said her mother. "I'm also gonna need to find you a new tutor."

"Or you can just leave the tutoring alone for a month or so." Marissa said in a simple tone.

Her mother sighed and said, "You know how important your lessons are to your future."

"It's stupid…..and I'm fine you're gone 99% of the time anyways." She coldly answered her mother sighed.

"Fine…" she said with a frown

"Who is this new partner anyway?" Marissa curiously asked crossing her arms.

"Bruce Wayne," said her mother as she grabbed her cell phone.

-Kimiko hotel in Gotham City-

Marissa and her mother had checked into the Kimiko Hotel. Because the hotel was one of many owned by Marissa's father, she and her mother were given a suite free of charge.

It was one of the luxurious ones for VIPs that came with all kinds of amenities. Like a jacuzzi bath, separate bathrooms with showers and bathtubs, a living room area, three bedrooms, plasma TVs in the living area and three bedrooms, and room service.

"You think you'll be comfortable here until the house is ready?" Marissa's nanny asked.

"Yeah. I'll be fine. Go out and get some shopping done, why don't you? I'm sure you can visit your family. I'll tell my mom you're still here." she said sweetly.

The nanny thought about it and then said, "My brother and sister are visiting the city for the weekend. And they're bringing their families. It would be nice to see my nephew."

She stared at the nanny for a moment. "I'm sure they'd love to see you, Annabelle. You should go."

"How about you come along?" Annabelle suggested. "My nephew, Wally is about your age. And I think you two would get along."

"No I'm fine. Have fun." She said in a simple tone laying on the bed.

"You sure?" Annabelle asked. "You might like having a friend."

"Yeah I'm sure." Marissa said in a calm tone.

Annabelle smiled sweetly as she left. Once she was gone Marissa decided to visit her mother's lab. A lot of the stuff her mother invented were ideas she saw on tv. Her mother actually made them work unlike tv. Her recent invention involved DNA mutations with spiders like Spiderman.

She thought her mother was insane to make something worse than Manbat but it was better then something like that cat project she made and scraped.

She entered her mother's hidden lab to check it out and found a few specimens. One was a simple house spider another was black widow and then there was the wolf spider.

One of the spiders were missing actually. "Ok this sounds familiar."

She felt something sharp pierce her arm. And there and behold a spider was on her arm and had bit her. In response, Marissa swatted the spider off. But she wasn't sure what it was so she closed the door to the lab and quickly snuck out. However, little did she know, that spider that bit her was a genetically engineered super spider that her mother had been developing in the lab.

As she was leaving, Marissa heard footsteps along with her mother's voice. "As you can see, Mr. Wayne, our research is ahead of many labs. Our aim is to use this research to benefit mankind."

Marissa panicked and quickly hid in the janitors closet. She peaked out in time to see her mother showing around a man with black hair. She immediately recognized him as Bruce Wayne.

"Interesting," said Mr. Wayne. "And what's this I've been hearing about your work with spiders?"

"Oh, that is a very good question," said Mrs. Kimiko as they came to the door. "Inside here is several species of spider. Using DNA from each species, myself and my team have created 15 genetically enhanced super spiders. Our hope is to use the venom from these spiders to create cures for lots of diseases."

"Fascinating," said Mr. Wayne with interest. "And could we see these amazing spiders?"

"Might wanna put on a biohazard suit before you go in there," said Mrs. Kimiko as she went to get a couple. "They have this nasty habit of escaping, and I'd rather nobody got bit by one. Their venom hasn't been tested yet."

Marissa gulped slightly she hoped really hard that the spider that bit her was just an ordinary one. She held her breath as her mother continued.

"These spiders appear to be very promising," Marissa's mother said while putting her suit on. "If all goes well, some illnesses could be a thing of the past."

"That's a very nice thought," said Mr. Wayne while he put on the mask. "Shall we?"

"We shall," Marissa's mother said while opening the door and leading Mr. Wayne inside, shutting the door behind her.

"First up is one of the most deadliest spiders known to man...the brown lucas."

"I've read about these," said Mr. Wayne, looking at the spider in it's container. It was hanging by the side.

"Yes the next one a house spider." Her mother said walking over to the spider.

"Looks like the Cheiracanthium, or yellow sac spider, to be exact," said Mr. Wayne. "The most common in the world."

Hwr mother smiled. "We have dozens of different spiders from many places and enhanced and crossbreed to make a very unique specimen who is right-" her mother noticed one of there spider's were missing. "Oh not again. This is why we have to wear these suits."

"Relax, doc," said an assistant while looking around. "We'll find that bug eater and get it recontained."

"Well, Doctor, based on what I've seen, I believe a partnership would be a great idea," Mr. Wayne said.

"Oh that's wonderful, Mr Wayne. Oh if you'd like I'm having a small dinner. I'd be overjoyed if you met my daughter and husband. You can even bring your adopted son if you wish. Marissa is about his age if not a we bit older."

"I'd be happy to attend," Mr. Wayne said with a smile. "And I think this might be good for Dick too. We'll definitely be there."

"That's wonderful. I look forward to seeing you two tonight." Marissa's mother said her and Mr. Wayne left and once gone Marissa snuck out and went back to her hotel room.

Once back she rubbed the bite feeling slightly ill so she fell asleep. Annabelle returned and found Marissa asleep. She did not wish to disturb her, so she simply left her a glass of juice on the nightstand and left her alone.

-That night-

Marissa opened her eyes and found a glass of juice next to her night stand. She was feeling thirsty, so she drank it. The door opened and her mother came in dressed up in a long red dress.

"Oh, Marissa, you're awake," she said with a smile. She sat down next to her daughter and asked, "How are you feeling? Annabelle said you were sick earlier."

"Fine. I Think it was just the flu or something," Marissa answered.

"If you don't feel up to dinner, I understand," her mother said in concern.

"No! I'm fine." She got up from bed she looked at her hand maybe it really had been just a spider.

"Okay, if you're sure," her mother said as she stood up concern still in her tone. "Get yourself together and meet me and your father outside the room. I got you a new dress just for the occasion."

She sighed closing her door when she removed her pjs she noticed she was a lot more muscular like she received a fine toned body over night.

"Okay. That's new," she said to herself. She shook it off and quickly got into a blue summer dress. As she balled up her hands, something shoot out of her wrist. She looked at it for a solid minute before touching it. It felt like silk and kinda was sticky like from a spider this made her wonder what was going on.

"Marissa? Honey, everything alright in there?" Her mother called. "I thought I heard something."

"Uh yeah everything's fine!" She was freaking out she quickly pulled the thread off her wrist to make sure it was off before shutting the door behind her. "I'm ready." Her mother looked at her confused.

"Okay," her mother said. "Well, let's go then. The guests will be expecting us. Mr. Wayne and his adopted son are going to be among them."

"Right of course." Marissa sighed as her and her mother walked out of the hotel room. And into the hotels dining hall.

The room had nice floors that were silver a chandelier hung above, and below there were a few tables covered in white fabric. It was like a dream from her early childhood. Her mother took a seat next to Bruce and his child.

Marissa took a quick seat and put her hand on the fabric. Her father joined her a complacent smile on his lips.

"Mr. Wayne, I would like to introduce you to my husband, Kyo, and my daughter, Marissa," her mother said.

"Pleasure to meet you, sir," Mr. Wayne said, shaking the man's hand.

"You as well, Mr. Wayne," Kyo politely said. "Angel told me how thrilled she was with the possibility of a partnership."

Marissa sighed pulling her hand from the fabric only for it to still be stuck to it.

"Marissa," Angel said, getting her attention.

She quickly tried to pull the fabric off. "Uh yes, mom."

"Mr. Wayne was about to introduce his adopted son," Angel said with a sweet smile.

"Marissa, this is Richard Grayson. He's my adopted son," said Mr. Wayne, gesturing to the boy.

"And he's about your age. 9. I mean you're 11 but I'm sure you two can be friends." Her mother smiled again Marissa frowned looking fairly unhappy.

"You okay?" Richard asked, noticing her expression.

She groaned. She didn't wanna dish her issues on a stranger so she lied. "Yeah I'm fine."

Her parents were still suspicious. But they decided to finish their conversation with Mr. Wayne before finding out what was going on.

"So, Mr. Wayne, my wife tells me you've seen her work with arachnids," said Kyo. "What was your impression?"

"Honestly, I found it quite fascinating," said Mr. Wayne. "And I think it's great that she's doing all of this to benefit mankind."

"That's my Angel for you," Kyo said with a smile. "Always using that brain of hers to think of ways to help people."

"I've noticed," said Mr. Wayne. And then he turned to Angel. "Now, as for our partnership, I'll have the contract brought over tomorrow. You can run it by your lawyer if-"

As he spoke an explosion went off. A few men came walking in. And none other than Mr Freeze himself.

"Fuck," Mr. Wayne swore as he pushed Richard behind him.

"Well well well look at all the wealthy people here. If you would I would put your money and jewelry in here or you might end up ice cold." Mr. Freeze said as the men put out bags to have them put there money in the bag but when they came to Marissa she had a locket on she wouldn't give him.

"What did he just say, little girl?" The man asked.

"My aunt gave me this. I'm not handing it over."

"What's worth more, your jewelry or your life?" the man coldly asked.

"If it's from someone dead this. So shove off." Marissa coldy responded. The man growled before pulling a gun out and shooting her mother blocked the shot.

"Angel!" Kyo cried out as he caught his wife. "You bastard! You killed her!"

The gunman held a gun to his head as if to make a solid point before shooting him as well. Marissa just stood there stunned and angry.

"Anyone else wanna be a hero?" he asked.

"It would be wise to comply, child. Unless you wish to share the fate of your mother and father," Freeze threatened.6

But surprise the man who had shot her parents was sent to other side of the room. "You're all monsters! You all deserve to die!"

This little child had picked up a grown man and tossed him across the room leaving him bloody and broken. Fire rose in the girls eyes.

Freeze pointed his gun at her and said, "Stay back!"

Only for a batarang to hit it. Freeze looked up and saw Batman and his new sidekick, Robin, standing by the window.

Batman jumped down and punched Freeze in the helmet. He continued to punch and kick the man, while Robin took on Freeze's goons. Together, the dynamic duo took them down and restrained them for the police. Unfortunately, there were casualties.

Batman walked up to Marissa and said, "I'm sorry for your loss."

Marissa looked angry and sad. She looked at the goon who shot her parents being taken in and honestly she wanted to kill him.

"I know what you're thinking. But, believe me, it's not worth it," said Batman

"I hope he gets a death sentence that's all I'm thinking." She walked away.

"What's gonna happen to the girl, now?" Batman asked commissioner Gordon.

"Her only remaining relative is her uncle so she'll be going with him. And all we can do is hope she'll be alright," Gordon told Batman.

"Yeah cause watching your family die before you isn't traumatizing." Robin said in a cold tone. He had been there been angry and sad. And so had Bruce.

"As long as she has someone to take care of her, maybe she can learn to live again," Batman said as he remembered that poor girl.

"I heard her aunt Miya actually died a few years ago from a gas station robbery. That kid has a lot of bad luck ...I hope she doesn't do something she'll regret." One of the officers said to Gordon.

"Unfortunately, it's out of our hands. For now, we need to notify the uncle," Gordon said. "The sooner we do that, the sooner she can at least attempt to get her life back together."

"I hope so." Batman said but somehow he had a feeling this girl wasn't about to lie down and relax and that seriously worried him.

Four years later

It is said that fate is a strange thing that no matter what you do you'll always end up on a line ether going straight or backwards. For Marissa, it was kind of similar after the incident she had started living with her uncle. He was a kind man teaching her all he could about life. so when she watched spider man again like she did with her parents she decided something. Maybe there was a reason these things happened. Her aunt had always told her everyone had responsibility in life and what you do with the life you were given is what you make out of life.

"Don't let life tell you what to be. With great strength comes great responsibility. Or like I like to say, take the luck you are given and give yourself strength to fight for those who can't fight back." those words were her strength so that's why in the two years living with her uncle she took her favorite hero mental and named herself Spider Woman. She bought some fabric and used some of her mother's inventions to help herself get started. And over the years she took to the streets fighting bad guys thieves and anyone one who tried to hurt her city or the people of it.

"Marissa? You up?" Her uncle Brian said from outside her room.

"Yeah, uncle B. Uh don't come in. I'm getting dressed." She said holding the door shut well getting off her costume. It looked a lot like Gwen Stacy's which she wanted it too.

"Okay," he said. "I'll just put breakfast on the table. Bacon and eggs."

She sighed in relief. She quickly got out of her costume from night patrol and got in a simple tank top and pants before folding her costume and putting it in her backpack. She darted out her door downstairs and onto the seat at the breakfast table.

"Morning, Marissa," Uncle Brian said with a smile while pouring her some orange juice.

"Morning uncle!" Marissa said cheerfully as the news turned on.

"In an act of heroism the woman who has taken the mantle Spider Woman saved an orphan from a burning building. Whoever this masked figure is she's stolen this news reporters heart. Here's a clip from this heroic scene." They watched as a girl suddenly appeared while the fire fighters were putting out a burning building. The girl wore a gold and white costume with gold eyes, a gold spider symbol on the chest, and a hood. She flings herself into the building with a web and carries a little boy out. She then safely placed him on the ground before leaving.

"I don't know whether to think she's really brave or incredibly reckless," Uncle Brian said while taking a sip of coffee.

"She saved a kid. I'm gonna go with brave. Besides the crime rate in Starlight City has gone down sense Spider woman has come to scene." Marissa said taking a bite of her food.

"I see your point," said Uncle Brian looked both concerned and proud. "She does make it easier for the police to do their jobs. I just can't help but be concerned. I mean, that's someone's daughter."

"True but I'm sure she'll be fine. She's kinda cool." Marissa said.

"I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up in the Justice League at some point," said Uncle Brian, and then he took a bite of bacon.

"Hum that would be kinda cool. Oh I should get going I have to get to the library for my test." She finished her food quickly and running out the door.

Brian let out a sigh, "Sometimes I worry about that girl."

-At the library-

Marissa had been researching about the league ever since she became a hero 4 years ago. She wasn't sure if she ever wanted to be in the league really. For one there members weren't the type to let kids in and two even if she had saved the city and the whole world by herself 12 times she wasn't sure how big a gesture she had to do just to impress them. And what if this took her away from her duties.

Her thoughts were stopped in her tracts when she noticed a place called Star city was under attack by two ice villains. One was ice boy but the other was her one and only queen of idiocy Ice Queen.

"Get lost, Ice Queen! This is my show!" Ice boy shouted at her.

"Ever heard of sharing?" Ice Queen teased while freezing the bridge.

Marissa made a decision she was going there. She turned off her laptop and ran to the nearest bathroom.

She got into her costume and ran off to help.

Star city

Marissa aka Spiderwoman shot off her web slinging forward. As Ice Queen shot an ice blast at the bridge only for a web to hit her and pull her forward and punch her. "Oops I meant to hit the ice boy oh well Ice Queen will do."

"Are you insinuating I look like a boy!" Ice queen angrily asked sending ice at her well spider woman swung and weaved and dodged her opponents attacks

"Well if the crown fits."

"My name isn't Ice Boy, fyi!" Ice boy shouted. "It's Icicle Jr!"

"Nobody cares, Ice Boy," Ice Queen said while waving her hand at him. "Eat this, bug bitch!"

Ice Queen shot a gust frozen wind at Spiderman she dragged the woman towards her and punched her then sent her forward like ping pong and punched her again then she swung ice queen into Icicle jr and sent the both of the bridges.

She quickly jumped over and sent several webs are them and one to the side of the bridge causing them to hang by the bridges side. That was when Green Arrow and Speedy appeared.

"Nice work back there," Green Arrow said with a thumbs up.

Speedy looked like he didn't care. "Yeah. She was really cool. But can we go? Today's the day."

"Don't be rude, Speedy," said Green Arrow. He walked up to the girl and held out his hand. "You're Spiderwoman. I've been following your work since your career started."

"Oh a hero's a fan. This friendly neighborhood spider is very flattered." She hung upside down waving a little.

"Maybe we can work together sometime," Green Arrow suggested.

"Maybe we'll see." Marissa said smiling under her mask she swung off leaving the two alone.

"Show off," Speedy commented in annoyance.
