Chapter 1
The rain was coming down hard. The sound of the rain falling against the roof and ground was loud. All other sounds were drowned out, but he still knew she was there. She stood at the barn's entrance. Her hair matted down from the rain, uniform completely soaked. His appearance wasn't any better. He had an edgy look like he was about to do something crazy.
"What are you doing here, Wakaba-san?" He asked, giving her a sharp look.
She remained silent. Sayori did not understand her own actions because she knew Zero's unyielding temperament. That he would not want people's concern and attention. Still she understood that he couldn't be left alone.
"I'm worried about you," was her belated answer. It was the best way she could put it.
"Forget it, just leave me alone," he said. His head fell once more. He was sitting with his back against the door to a horse's stall. One leg was extended, and the other drawn up with a hand resting on it. She considered his words, but found herself ignoring him. Instead she sat down on the ground next to him. She rested her chin on her knees. Zero looked at her in slight disbelief. His disbelief became anger.
"I said…" He began, but was cut off by Sayori.
"I did leave you alone."
Without another word Zero got up and left. Sayori shook her head before rushing after him. Out in the pouring rain it was hard to make out his figure ahead of her. Her eyes felt heavy. She was losing sight of him, as he walked away briskly. She had to jog to keep his form visible. She was forced to stop when her sight wavered.
If I stay still, maybe it will pass. She thought. Unfortunately, her knees buckled and she blacked out. She felt an arm catch her around the waist.
"Zero," she thought before succumbing.

Zero had reached the headmaster's home. He was heading to his room when he noticed the scent of Kaname Kuran.
He rushed to the Headmaster's office. "Why was Kuran here?"
"Oh, you're home Zero," greeted Kaien, "Kaname was here on a friendly visit. He was looking for Yori-san. Yuki really misses her…" He went on with his chatter. Zero became annoyed as he listened, but the next words brought him out of it. "I told him she went out to the barn, so he went to look for her." Zero ran out of Cross' office.

"I'm not Zero, Wakaba-san," Kaname said quietly with a grimace.
He had seen her from a distance and was walking towards her. She had been moving, but stopped. He was still far away when her body fell forward and her hands grabbed at air. Kaname was there in the blink of an eye. One arm holding her, his right hand holding a black umbrella. She brought a hand up, gripping his shirt collar tightly. That was when she had uttered that name.
Kaname inspected Sayori. She had slightly turned when she had gripped his shirt. Her head lay on his shoulder making it easy for him to see her face. She seemed to have a fever. Her face was flushed. What were you doing out here, he wondered. He saw Kiryu approaching him fast.
"She passed out from a fever," he explained.
"I'll take her," Zero replied, scowling. He placed an arm behind her knees and another at her back. Kaname allowed him to take her, but was jerked forward as Zero pulled back. Sayori still had a hold on Kaname's shirt. Kaname tried pulling his shirt out of her hand. He pulled hard. He heard pop-pop as the buttons from his shirt were ripped off. Kaname was taken aback by this.
"Zero," she said, eyes opening slightly. Zero looked down at her, as her eyes closed she released Kaname's shirt.
Kaname motioned his umbrella towards Zero. Completely ignoring it he began to walk away.
Without turning Zero spoke,"I'll let Wakaba-san know she owes you a shirt."
