Bright Beginnings

Blame the Learning Channel. They had a man do the exact thing Peter does in this story. Nope, still don't own them.
Emma sat serenely in a chair; the anticipation in the air was almost palpable as Logan paced the floor. Scott snored softly in the chair beside her, arms folded over his chest and his chin resting just above them. "Logan," she called softly as he nearly ran down Kurt and Ororo who walked in the door, "please sit, I'm sure the nurses would appreciate it if you didn't wear a hole in the floor."
Logan grinned briefly at her as he collapsed into a chair. Then he was back up and walking the floor. Emma shrugged and watched the television; Larry King was talking to some director who wanted to make a movie about super-heroes, Fantastic Four probably. The waiting room had quickly filled when word spread. The nurses were starting to laugh.
This had all started when Logan awoke to someone knocked on his door. Kitty stood there, fully dressed, and a little disgruntled, "Logan, my water broke, and Peter just left for the hospital."
The words took seconds to penetrate his brain, "Didn't he forget something?" he asked. "Let me get dressed."
By the time they had reached the hospital, Peter had realized his mistake and turned around. He got back to the mansion in time to have Scott tell him that Logan had left with Kitty a few minutes before. When Scott and Emma reached the waiting room, Kitty was in definitely in labor, but it was going to be a while.

Kitty sighed, she was in love with her anesthesiologist, and he made everything feel soooo much better. Peter sat by her side, he hated seeing her in pain, but that came with the territory. They had been here eight hours and the doctors kept telling her that she was progressing, but she was tired, and ready to be done with it. Her mother sat on the other side of the bed, waiting anxiously for the arrival of her first grandchild.
Kitty shifted around to her back and felt pressure. The nurse walked in to check her as she told her about it. "Well, Mrs. Rasputin, you're ready to push. You're at ten centimeters."
"That's what I want to hear," the doctor said as he entered the room. Peter turned a noticeable shade of green. Terry noticed and got up, ready to help her daughter. "On the next contraction, I want you to push."
Kitty nodded relieved that this was finally about to end. She felt her abdomen tighten as she began to push. Voices around her counted to ten as she tried to concentrate on what she was doing. Suddenly, one of the nurses exclaimed, "He's gonna blow!" Startled, Kitty looked up only to watch Peter topple over in a dead faint.
"Big strong man like that and he faints at the sight of a baby being born," she heard. One of the nurse's knelt by her husband, making sure he was all right. She nodded.
"Kitty, I need you to concentrate, one more push," Kitty nodded, brain focused back on her own body. Soon, she felt relief as the doctor proclaim, "Congratulations, it's an Ilyana."
Kitty laid back in the bed, it was over, and it was just beginning. Peter woke up slowly, groggily in time to see his daughter being placed in the arms of her loving mother.

Logan laughed as he entered the room with the rest of their friends. Peter was sitting in a wheelchair. "Petey, you've been in battle, died, seen more blood than I care to count, and you fainted while Kitty was giving birth?"
Terri looked up from where she sat, holding her granddaughter, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
They gathered around the young family, and admired the newest member of the extended family. With a year of pain and loss behind them, joy was something they all needed.
Hope you enjoy.
