This is the beginning of the first story, thought I probably should get this one up first.
After Act III of the chuunin exams.
Lyra's my OC, she's a bit weird... I don't know exactly what she's like, this is all being rewritten from the original story so her character is hard for me to figure out.
On with the story...
Tired amber eyes blinked against the strong dawn sun, and the blonde girl sneezed, sending a startled bird shooting out of a bush with a harsh cry.
The girl's ruddy skin paled in the light, and she wore heavy bags under her eyes from too many nights without sleep. Her name was Lyra, she was twelve, and she was an orphan.
She'd lost her parents when she was a baby, so couldn't really remember them at all. All she'd ever known was her auntie, her mother's sister, and now she…
Her aunt had left her here at Konoha's gates and she knew that meant one thing, and one thing only. Auntie knew she was going to die, soon. Die like her parents, die like her pet falcon, die and leave her alone in this world.
"Stay here, make your own family," Auntie had said. She turned her wandering gaze to the gates. She had a good feeling about this. Something gave her a sense of foreboding. You won't be here long, a voice in her head told her. But she didn't care. After all these years of travelling about she had a home, waiting for her. She stood up and walked over to the guards, handing over a scroll her auntie had given her.
Far within the walls of Konaha, a shock-headed blonde boy was getting the snot kicked out of him by an angry pink haired girl. Kakashi mumbled to himself, and Sasuke tried to avoid inclusion into anything so daft.
"Naruto! I bought that just last week!"
"I'll buy you a new one, Sakura, I swear!"
"ARGH! You'd better keep that promise!"
The shards of a broken pocket mirror lay on the ground in explanation of this scene, and Sasuke had to wonder why anybody would carry around something so impractical and readily broken in this job anyway.
"We're supposed to be training for the final part of the chuunin exams, not arguing, children…" Kakashi spoke.
"They are!" Sakura exclaimed, obviously resenting the fact that once again she had fallen behind the boys. Inner Sakura was screaming in rage and kicking herself.
"You should still train, Sakura," Kakashi began, stepping closer to her to murmur so the boys couldn't hear, "or you'll just keep getting left behind."
"Hai!" Sakura straightened herself as Naruto picked himself off the floor. That had struck a nerve. How could I be so stupid, don't just sulk, DO something!
"So," Kakashi addressed them, assuming his customary you-can't-touch-me stance, "who wants to try it?"
The kids all smiled.
"Let's go"
Thanks for listening!
