This doesn't mean I normally accept requests, it's just that I have nothing to do and besides it seemed like a good idea at the time.
I know it was sorta supposed to be one-sided, but it kinda came out a little reciprocal.

Renji loves fighting Ichigo. There's something about the way he moves, and strikes, and taunts, that sparks welcome irritation and allows him to come alive. The sky is blue today, the sun is out, Soul Society is busy with its daily errands. It's just the two of them. Only the drops of red pooling together on the stone beneath him seems out of place.
Then he remember he's on his knees and coughing up blood. His hair is in his eyes but he can't remember when or if he ever let it down. Renji looks up at Ichigo. He's never noticed it before but as the sky fades into the horizon it gets greyer. There are a few clouds too, just out of sight, hovering near the prison tower.
Rukia.
Renji's voice is rough and his throat hurts. He can't remember whether he says it for Rukia's sake or Ichigo's, or for his own. Ichigo smiles a little, but his smile is crooked and for a moment, maybe, just maybe, he looks like he wants to stay. Then he turns and slowly walks away.
Please...Please save Rukia.
Renji closes his eyes and wipes the blood away with a shaking hand. Emotional defeat. He wishes there was something more he could have said.
