Ink Blot
Kitten had long known the confines of a metal cage. Born the runt of the litter she had never gotten a home and never known the love of a two-legger. Everything she did every time a two-legger came to chose a cat to take home never worked. Kitten would groom her fur until it shone and rubbed around the two-leggers legs, however the two-leggers would always chose another kitten. Finally she was the only one of her litter that was left, her mother had even been given a home with a two-legger. Washing the paw of her all black coat, she closed her golden eyes and slept, unknowing of the two-leggers fear of black cats.
Kitten was now seven months old and still no one had taken her to their home. All around her the two-leggers had started hanging up orange colored shapes that was carved out in different ways. The loud noise that Kitten had learned to recognize was the two-leggers talking was more loud and seemed excited. Kitten had noticed that the two-leggers were coming less often as if there was something more important to do. That upset Kitten, wondering what could be more important than taking in a cat.
One day, a kit-two-legger came in with it's larger two-legger. Both of them looked through the cages at all the different cats. Kitten's ears drooped in sadness, thinking that once again she would be pushed aside for another cat or kitten. Because of that, Kitten was very surprised when her cage door was opened and she was gently taken out of her metal home. The two-legger let her down on the ground and immediately sat down next to her. However Kitten was scarred at this and she quickly ran and hid in the corner of the room and looked at the two-legger, her golden eyes wide as she assessed the situation.
The larger two-legger was sitting in a chair talking to the two-legger that always feed her. However the kit-two-legger was still sitting on the ground looking at her. Cautiously, Kitten crept out of the corner and padded softly towards the kit-two-legger. The kit-two-legger held out its paw and offered it to her. Kitten sniffed the offered paw before deciding that the kit-two-legger was to be trusted and she rubbed her head against the kit-two-leggers chin. The kit-two-legger laughed and gently petted Kitten. Kitten decided there and then that if this two-legger took her home she would not mind it at all.
It seemed just like a couple of minutes, but next thing Kitten knew was that she was at the new home. Being let out of the box she was carried in the first thing she nothiced, other than the new surroundings, was the fact that there was two other cats living in the house. Startled she looked up as a older female tabby approached her snarling, "What are you doing in my territory?" she growled as a black and white male approached from behind the tabby.
Startled Kitten took a step back, "The two-leggers decided to take me in." she said as she started to look for an exit.
The black and white cat stepped forward and hissed at the tabby, "You know that it's both our territory," he said before turning to face Kitten again, "If the two-leggers decided to take you in then we can't change that. However it's going to take a while for us to trust you, got it?" He meowed.
Kitten nodded quickly as she cautiously walked around the two older cats.
The tabby hissed at her startled that Kitten had gotten so close to her, "By the way I'm Violet and that's Buzz. At least that's what the two-leggers call us." She explained, "What's your name?"
The small black kitten sat up proudly, "The two-leggers named me Ink Blot!" she stated.
"That's great," Buzz said sarcastically. "Now get out of our way."
And with that, so began the life of Ink Blot.
