A/N: This story is actually a project for school where we had to use certain vocabulary words. So I decided to write a Reign fanfic. Because there were certain words we had to use and a page limit (1), this might sound a bit awkward but I decided to post it anyways. So please enjoy and leave reviews :)

Disclaimer: I do not own Reign or any of its characters

The Royal Banquet

Just a few days ago, Mary, now fifteen years old, had arrived at the French court. She was soon to be married to Francis and together, they shall rule France and Scotland. This allegiance should protect Scotland. But there are enemies that will stop at nothing to break this contract.

Mary was in her chamber getting ready for the royal banquet. This was a time when the honor nobles, lords, and vassals would feast and celebrate. And as the future queen, she had the obligation to attend. Looking around her chamber, she was drowned in all sorts of luxuries. Beautiful tapestries draped across the wall; stunning jade figurines crafted by skilled artisans decorated the tables; hand woven carpets lined the floor. For a girl who spent most of her life in a covenant, this was truly amazing.

She headed down to the dining hall accompanied by her ladies in waiting. They all wore elegant dresses. Mary herself wore a silk dress embroidered with golden rims. She had put on an amber encrusted necklace and matching earrings. This necklace was special to her because it was a hereditary given to her by her mother. Whenever she wore it, she imagined an image of her family, together.

As she entered the dining hall, music filled her ears. There were singers and dancers that were hired by the King to perform. People were all talking about their day and news they've heard. Francis spotted Mary and went to her.

"Francis," Mary said as they both walked outside onto the terrace. In the afar, she saw flames and smoke rising from stakes. "What is that exactly?" She asked.

"When the King's soldiers chased after a criminal convicted for treason, they witness a cruel pagan ritual being done. They recited some words and then sacrificed people in order to please the gods. So, the pagans were convicted of murder and there they are, being burned at the stakes." Francis informed.

We headed back to the dining hall just in time for the feast. Mary sat down next to Francis and her ladies in waiting. On the tables were mountains of rich and extravagant food. Candleholders made of shiny gold and silver decorated the tables. The plates, cups and utensils all had beautiful and exquisite designs.

Francis went into is chamber to go and get something. He never came back. After ten minutes, the king's men came in with a grave and worried expression. They said something and King Henry's face immediately turned pale. They left the dining hall and Mary followed them.

They came into Francis's chamber. On the ground was Francis, dead. He was assassinated. In his hand was a token meant for Mary. Mary took the token as a memorial of Francis. On the ground beside him was a note covered in blood. On it scribbled the word revenge. And at the bottom was the sacred pagan symbol...

So? How was it? I will not continue writing this so yeah... but I hope you liked the plot line :D
