The Future

"Ash? A-Ash?" The ten year old boy woke up slowly. He was so tired. He looked at the girl above him. She had shoulder-length red hair. Usually, she kept her hair up on the side, but she took out her hair piece so she could sleep peacefully.

"Hey Mist," the boy, Ash, greeted groggily, but still in a happy tone. "Where's Brock?" Misty shook her head.

"Where do you think?" Ash thought for a moment and did a mushroom sigh.

"He's flirting with Nurse Joy?" Misty nodded.

"Pika-chu!" Ash blinked and smiled when he felt his Pokémon, Pikachu, on his lap. He held Pikachu and started to think. Misty turned around and saw Ash deep in thought.

"Hey Ash, you look really deep in thought. Is something the matter?" Ash looked at Misty thoughtfully.

"Misty, can I ask you a question?" She nodded. "Mmm... What do you think of when you think of the future?" Misty blinked in surprise. She thought for a moment as she sat next to him on the bed. She looked at him with a blank stare.

"Well, you go first," she said. Ash shrugged.

"Well, I see myself getting married, with Pikachu evolved into Raichu and me being the Pokémon Master," he said, smiling confidently. Misty giggled.

"When I think of the future, I see myself with a wedding ring on my ring finger," she began, holding up her right ring finger, "and having a loving husband." Ash groaned.

"Issat all?" Misty shook her head.

"No, I also see myself happy at the Cerulean City Gym and battling Pokémon trainers with my Water Pokémon. And then..." Ash sat up all the way, staring at her curiously.

"And then what?" She smiled shyly.

"And then I also picture mini-Ketchums running around." Ash's eyes widened at that, and a blush formed on his face. Misty stood up and left the room. Ash started to think again and he smiled.

"I also picture myself with mini-Waterflowers running around," he told Pikachu as he stood up and walked out of the room.
