Kairi was just watching the sea, waiting. She was waiting for her two friends – even though they had both returned a long time ago. It had become a habit, to just sit here and gaze at the waves lapping the golden sand. And always the shadow of one of her friends would appear at her side and sit down.
"Kairi, what are you doing here?"
It was Riku, the one she could always trust to come rescue her. Although... she knew that wasn't fair exactly to Sora but he was the one she could always trust to look for her. It was just the way it was.
"Just waiting," she said.
"What for?"
"My friends,"
"Kairi. We're already here," said Riku who was getting a little exasperated, since Kairi did this every day. It had begun to worry him a little, even though he knew that Kairi was just pulling his leg.
"Are you? Or are you somebody that looks like Sora and Riku?" Kairi giggled, teasing Riku. Riku sighed, and then decided to play the same game as Kairi.
"You know, I sometimes wonder," he said with a serious expression, the one he knew he had used when they were younger, and building the raft. He then wondered how different their adventures would have been if they had used the raft. How far would they have got? Would Sora have still been the Key-Bearer? Would the Darkness have consumed everything?
He suddenly focus his thoughts on what was going on in the real life as he heard Kairi voice.
"What do you wonder Riku?" she asked, interest in her voice. Riku grinned and lay back on the sand.
"Sometimes I wonder how much easier my life would be if I had left the Heartless to eat you," Not that he would have ever done that, or would he ever do that. He loved her too much.
"Riku!" Kairi protested huffily, and gave him a whack on his shoulder, "Don't you ever do that!"
"Maybe, I think about it," he said lazily, and Kairi whacked him harder, "Ow! Okay, I wouldn't!"
"Good, because as Sora is the one who looks for me, I need someone to save me. And if he goes off on strike then..."
"... Sora will save you," he said", No problem",
"Hmph! But I want you to save me though" Kairi said", After all, we are tied together by the Papuo fruit",
"So that means if I let you die... I die?"
"Pretty much,"
"Fine. Although," he said quietly", I would already have die – even if we weren't tied to the Papuo fruit,"
Suddenly Kairi bounced up and said, "I'll race you! If you win the race then you are truly Riku!"
"What? Kairi come on!"
"On my mark, three... two... one!"
They both ran all the way back home.
A.N
The SoraXKairi fans will killme for saying that Sora never rescued Kairi but I don't think he really did at all. Not less you count saving worlds twice, but I'm talking more about her personally being rescued.
Also when I was playing Kingdom Hearts (I'm playing that game after playing KH2, lol, I'm so backwards) I lost the race to Riku at the begainning of the game, when you race for the Papuo fruit (Did I spell that right?) to share with Kairi or something. So just take it that Riku won that race and got to hare the Papuo okay?
