Chapter 1
Sam felt an extreme case of déjà vu as he sat in Bobby's library, looking through police records on the laptop. It was like after Dean had come back from hell when they were looking for a way to bring Elizabeth back to life. But his time, they had no idea where to start. They were pretty sure that she was alive, but even that wasn't certain. Sam was just so angry at his brother for letting her go.
Sam didn't remember the time he spent wandering around soulless. He was just glad that he had gotten his soul back. But after that, he learned why his little sister wasn't present. Dean had let her go after his death. They had both been mourning his death, sure, but he should have watched her. Should have protected her. But now they were scouring the country for her, hoping to find something, anything.
Sam knew Dean was upset about it too. He was sure that Dean was probably angry with himself. But Sam was upset with him too, which was one thing they could agree on.
Dean came back into the house with Bobby. They just come back from a simple salt and burn nearby. Dean had wanted to get out of the house. Everything was so awkward between the brothers that he just couldn't handle being in the house with him for much longer.
"Hey Sam." Dean greeted.
"Hey." Sam replied.
Dean sighed and then walked into the study and dropped onto the couch.
Sam suddenly gasped.
"What?!" Dean questioned.
"I think I know where she is!" Sam exclaimed.
Dean got up quickly, heading over to the desk where Sam was sitting and looking over his brother's shoulder at the laptop's screen.
"She's in a prison in Massachusetts." Sam turned to glare slightly at Dean.
"Yes, yes I know, Sam. This is all my fault." Dean replied, rolling his eyes.
"Yes, it is, Dean. You want to know why? Because you're the one that let our little sister go out alone. What were you thinking?" Sam raised his voice slightly.
"I wasn't thinking, ok?! You were dead, neither of us were thinking!" Dean's voice rose too.
Sam sighed angrily and shook his head. He really didn't want to do this again. They had been arguing so much recently and he just wanted it to stop.
"Let's go." Dean said, and headed out the door, grabbing his duffel bag on the way out.
