A is for Attention
Sergeant Domitan of Masbolle knew that he was in a predicament. Sprawled out in a clearing, he gazed up at the sky in irritation. For the past six months (was it six months or six years? He was pretty sure he would never be able to tell when this had started) he had been attempting to get the attention of a certain Lady Knight. And obviously, it was not the Lioness.
Shuddering at the thought of feeling that way towards Alanna of all people, Dom shifted. He felt his weight bury him deeper into the cool dirt and grass beneath him but he couldn't bring himself to care. He was in a predicament with very limited options, and none of them looked promising. Most of them involved asking his dear cousin Nealan for advice and that was not going to happen. Ever. He had no desire to write poetry involving Kel's eyelashes or some such object of "affection". In fact, writing poetry disturbed him and was something he had no talent for, and therefore that meant Neal was not at all a promising option.
He could ask Alanna. She was a Lady Knight after all and would know what he should do. Then again, she might interrogate him. That thought was unpleasant and so close to reality; Dom tossed that idea right out. For someone who considered himself smart, he had very little luck at gaining the attention of his beloved Lady…Knight. What could he do to attract the attention of an equal? He wasn't used to that in a girl he wanted to court, and since most of the people he dealt with that were equal to him were male…
Alas, Dom was going to have to start his courting from scratch. He hadn't done that in ages, and it would be a learning experience. At least, he knew that he would have a long list of fellow female warriors to guide him. He hoped.
AN: So this was just an idea that I couldn't leave alone. Each chapter clearly is going to be a different little scene centering on the letter. At one point, I was dreaming some of the scenes I have planned out which was a clear sign that I needed to write this. It's been a really really long time so be gentle please!
