Yukio carefully traced the mark with the ease of an experienced exorcist before he spoke the words that buzzed slightly in his head.
They were simple words, just words to summon a familiar that would come to his aid whenever he needed one to, nothing extreme, just a demon to help him out in a fight, to temporarily convert to the light side.
His eyes flickered closed when suddenly something toppled forth over in front of him, and when Yukio opened up his eyes, he couldn't contain his shock and anger, "Rin, couldn't you have picked some other place to goof off in."
"I-I don't know what happened." Rin's face flamed red in surprised embarrassment as his blue eyes darted around the small room, "Is there where you've been going?"
"No, I was trying to summon a familiar though, and instead you appear." Yukio had been rather distant lately though Rin somehow doubted that that was all that his brother was trying to accomplish.
"Wait, I'm your familiar?" Familiars could be linked back to families, but as far as Rin knew they couldn't be your twin brother though he could have slept through a lesson or two explaining that they could be on the other hand.
"I don't think that's possible." Yukio's irritation was palpable, and Rin wondered if his demon blood was acting against him in this moment.
"But you summoned me." It felt weird, like an annoying itch to just well, behave that tickled over his skin and through his veins, unbidden by the world around him.
"It was an accident." Yukio's eyes looked angry yet worn all at the same time, and Rin felt guilty despite himself; was he different now that he was his brother's familiar or had he always been this way?
"O-Okay." It messed with his mind as he stared up at Yukio and debated what exactly this meant; was he to be his brother's familiar, arrive when he called, fight for him when he needed him to?
Was this going to get in the way of his exorcist's training?
He'd still be able to go to class and Cram School, have his own familiar, and become an exorcist, right?
"You're not my familiar, Rin, despite whatever just happened." It was in that moment that Yukio Okumura gave up on the concept of having his own familiar; it would more than likely be his older twin brother than anything else evidently.
He sighed, exhausted, but still willing to power through whatever this thing was exactly.
