Tears of Death
I sat waiting for my friends at a local park. We were suppose to go celebrate my birthday by my getting a tattoo that I had designed a few months back when they wanted to know what I wanted for my birthday present. I already knew that at least one person wasn't going to show up and he was the one that I really wanted to show. Sometimes I hate knowing things like that.
My gaze drifted from one thing to another. I sat in a secluded part of the overly perky park half way between my home and my auto shop. It was quiet and rather beautiful. The trees were so tall you had to crane your neck in order to see the tops. There were wildflowers that surround the trees in many colors and the grass was healthy and tall. The birds chirped and squirrels played their games. A young mother and her child walked by causing me to give in to the urge to smile.
"Hey," I heard someone call, sounding suspiciously like one of my guy friends, "Breezy! Where are ya?"
I smiled even more and called back, "Were else? My bench!"
There was some laughter as three people came into view, two males and one female. My best friend, her boyfriend, and one of our only close friends. Their names were Alexis, Malachi, and Daemon. Alexis had shoulder length brown hair dyed black and big, brown eyes with square glasses. She stood at about five foot and wore a lot of pink. Next to her, with his arm wrapped around her waist was Malachi. He was about five foot seven, shaved bald and wore square glasses as well. He wore tee shirts with shorts or pants. Then came Daemon who was five foot ten. He wore the same things as Malachi but not as expensive.
"Hey," I said standing and dusting my self off, "Shall we?"
"Where's Michael," asked Alexis looking around, causing me to look at the trees in anger.
"I don't know and quiet frankly, I gave up caring when he started to stand me up," I answered walking past them quickly to hide my anger.
They didn't say anything as I led them to the tattoo shop across from the park. I sighed as I caught my reflection in one of the mirrors in the shop. My short pixie like hair cut had grown out and came to my chin now. My purple eyes were lined in kohl and eyeshadow causing them to stand out. I wore a plain black hoodie with baggy black cargo pants. I quickly turned my attention to the clerk as I checked in for my appointment. She was tall with long blond hair and green eyes. She wore a low cut shirt and too tight pants. She gave Daemon and Malachi a flirty grin before Alexis gave Malachi a rather suggestive grin and kissed him. I only rolled my eyes before sitting and waiting. The tattoo parlor was fairly large and airy. Against the far wall was framed pictures of the art work that they had done on previous customers. Some had names others didn't. It was easy to see the different styles of the artists after looking at them for awhile.
The area in which I sat, waiting for my appointment with my friends, there was a small couch and a few chairs as well as some more art work. Slowly I let my mind drift to my relationship with my boyfriend, Michael. When we first had started going out it was new and tentative. He would always walk me home, made sure I was eating and other things along those lines. Then for no reason it seemed, he turned cold to me. I could see it happening in his eyes. He didn't want a girl like me any more than I wanted a homeless man. I knew what was going to have to happen. I saw when he came back from a visit to his parents.
"Miss Breeze," called a gentle and loving voice, pulling me from my thoughts, "Its time."
The person who called was a young woman with a few face tattoos to show off her ability as a tattoo artist. She had long black hair with beautiful brown eyes and rosy red painted lips. She was a taller than me and wore low heels. She also wore a gray skirt that ended about mid-thigh with a form fitting red tank top. She smiled again, showing her gentle nature and loving heart. However, she was right. It was time to end this farce I had with my boyfriend. I needed it to end soon as well.
I was back in the park again after my friends left to go home or do what ever. It was almost midnight and I didn't want to go home to find my boyfriend sitting there with some flimsy excuse as to why he wasn't there. With a sigh I looked up to the stars and saw a full moon smiling down at me. Standing and moving away from the bench, I began to dance to the music only I could hear coming from nature. It called me to throw my cares and the like away and just move to the natural rhythm of life. Slowly I spun, gaining speed until I couldn't make out the trees and made my self dizzy to the point of collapsing. I laid down on the ground and stared at the night sky, a small smile playing on my lips. Closing my eyes I could feel the ever presence of my one and only stalker.
He had started following my when I first came to the park and climbed the tallest tree. I was rather bored that day after unpacking all of my stuff and putting it away within a couple of hours, I went for a walk and came to the park. For awhile I just wondered until I found the quieter part of the park and the much taller trees. My first instinct was to climb them and I did. I found the tallest one I could and climbed up it as far as was safe. When I got back down, a man a few inches taller than me stood there watching me with such intensity that I thought I was going catch fire. After that he has always followed me. He never says a word, and I don't talk to him. However, he protected me when I couldn't protect myself. Tonight felt different. I felt as though I should talk to him, after all he had been watching me for nearly a year. I believe it was time to get to know him, since he knew me, if not through talking to me then by observing.
"Whats your name," I said loud enough for him to hear me, yet quiet enough not to disturb the stillness of the area.
"Hn," he replied from above me, "What are you doing?"
"Procrastinating," I answered opening my eyes to see blood red rubies glaring down at me, "You probably don't care, but my name is Breeze McNight."
"Go home onna," he commanded coldly, "I do not want to have to carry you yet again."
"I don't want to," I replied gently, "He's there again with another excuse, another lie to keep me with him."
"Hn. Not my problem," he said before leaving my line of vision, returning to he previous post, away from me.
With a sigh I soon got up and walked away from my sanctuary towards what I knew was going to be hell. I could still feel him following, my silent stalker, my dark knight. The roads were fairly empty of cars and people, which I was glad for. I might be a social butterfly, according to some, however, that's not who I really am. A very few knew this, and few even cared.
The street lamps casted eerie shadows that did nothing but hurry me along my way home. Even though I knew my protector was there, I didn't want to be caught in those darker shadows for long. The air was fresh but filled with an anxiousness that was never there before. I soon saw the outline of Michael leaning against my door, waiting like I knew he would. Taking a deep breath and sending a prayer to the Moon for courage, I walked up the small walk way situated between a large garden on either side that grew nearly wild. I stopped a few feet from the bottom step and gave a blank look to the tall man before me. He had blond hair in a crew cut with bright blue eyes behind square glasses. His lips were full and made me remember their sinful taste. His ever present smirk hidden now. He wore a Disturbed tee shirt and blue pants with Fallen tennis shoes.
"What do you want Michael," I asked remaining where I was.
"I came to wish you a happy birthday," he said with an almost sincere smile, "Since I couldn't be there for your first tattoo. My mother had called and-"
"And your lying," was all I said, cocking my head to the side, "I had talked to her earlier today, before my appointment. She said she was going to be out with your father and little brother. Care to try again?"
He only stared at me in shock before growing angry and saying, "What about you? You were out all day and nearly all night."
"Because I didn't want to deal with you and your lies. Leave Michael. Leave and don't ever come back. I know you don't love me anymore, not since you came back from visiting your parents a month ago," I said walking up the steps into a potentially dangerous zone, "I don't ever want to see you sitting here again waiting to give me a half assed excuse. Now go."
He glared at me, his fists clenched at his sides. He raised one hand and made as to hit me, but stopped. With a growl he left. He didn't turn back, he didn't threaten me over his shoulder. He just left in an angry huff. I leaned against my door, my eyes closed as I took a deep breath to calm myself down from the fear and anxiety that had been within me. Slowly I heard the sounds of my garden come to life which further calmed me. With a smile I pushed myself from my door and unlocked it before entering my darkened home which smelled of cookies from earlier and the house plants I had hanging around.
A/N:Alright, I had a rather nice review from Kaijin-san. She helped me indentify areas I need work and I'm going to try and do so. But I would also like feedback from any one that reads this. Thank you!
