My Notes: This is my first try at poetry so I hope you like it :) I definitely appreciate all comments I receive, though don't be too harsh please! I would like to know if you thought it was written too simple (i.e. the format and rhyming scheme). I also realize the idea isn't all that original but I kinda wanted just to experience poetry with some simple themes before delving too deep. (Side note: I also know that Link wasn't really a boy when he fought Ganon but he could still be called that, afterall he was only seventeen!) Thank you for your time!
The Fate Of A Boy
Long ago it was scribed
Of one's fate
A creature so powerful and righteous
That it would destroy all hate
Who knew that this strong being
Would be but a boy?
That a child
Would possess the power to destroy?
Another destiny
Was written in the sky
A man so dark and evil
Hatred for the world did in his heart lie
The man's name was whispered on the wind
Shouted and wailed by the dead
Ganondorf!
And the Gerudo people he lead!
Ganondorf wanted all pure creatures to be killed
And all life to end
He lied and cheated
To truth he did bend
But the Princess of Destiny,
Zelda; the fairest of all maids,
Saw through the evil man's curtain of falsehoods
And wished for his darkness to fade
Along came the creature of good
The boy of valor and pure might
His name the masses cried out
Link, the hero of light!
The man and the boy
Were predestined to meet
To peer deep into each other's souls
Amidst the battle's heat
Swords clashed and voice's rang out
As they both exchanged heavy blows
Hyrule was quiet as it breathlessly watched
The mighty war between the two foes
When the mist did rise
And the smoke had cleared
There sat the young boy
Covered in wounds and heat seared
Close by lay a mass
Of jumbled flesh and twisted power
The slaughtered Ganondorf
Long had passed his prime hour
Now here was heaped the remains of the battle
Good and evil had fought that day
Light had prevailed
The man would forever stay
The land cried out of victory
The people of Hyrule were filled with joy
"Long may Ganondorf remain dead," they shouted,
"And all shall love our savior, the boy."
But the masses and fate are fickle
Consuming Link with cheer
And then rejecting him soon after
For the boy came true his fear
The Hero of Time was sent back
To his period of innocence and growth
When he was just a young child
Before he knew anything of hate and loath
He was forgotten by all
Never a hero, not a brave knight
He was alone in a wood
Never had he waged that bloody fight
To Link he himself appeared lost
Caught between the past and present, it did seem
A life of secrets and guilt
Only to relive those forgotten years in his dreams
