Another POV Thomas story, this time it's a story about how Percy and James are good friends, told in Percy's POV Enjoy and comment.
James and I are really good friends, and both really useful engines. We have been friends ever since I arrived on Sodor.
Even though we don't agree sometimes, we always work our hardest to get the job done.
And everyone knows that when we work together, we are both really useful.
One morning, Sir Topham Hatt was kind enough to give both of us the day off, so me and James sat in the sheds.
"Am I a really useful engine?" I asked James.
"You are, but you're only little." James told me. "You have a wild imagination that sometimes leads you to trouble. You still have a lot to learn as well."
I will have to admit James is right about me being little, since I'm only a little green tank engine, but he's not right about my wild imagination.
"What's wrong with my imagination?" I asked.
"Well, it often leads you to trouble."
"Like when?"
"Well, once, you were curious about the DANGER sign by the harbor. Thomas told you not to pass it, but your imagination went wild, and you fell into the sea."
"But water is nothing to an engine with determination!" I explained to James.
"Then there was the time where you were being cheeky and ruined Sir Topham Hatt's trousers."
"That was an accident!"
I clearly remember that day as well. I just wanted to come into the station quietly, so that I wouldn't disturb anybody.
"But then, there was the time when you crashed into the chocolate factory!"
"Please don't recall that!" I begged.
"You weren't being careful! You slipped onto the oily rails, and crashed right through the wall, just like Thomas, when he crashed into the stationmasters house during breakfast!"
"But nobody was there, unlike Thomas, where the stationmaster was furious!"
"And then, you got teased by all the engines!"
"Aren't there any good things I've done?" I asked.
"Like the time you kept blowing your whistle for no reason?"
"Not that!"
"That day, you caused so much confusion and delay!"
"But then I learned my lesson and prevented Thomas from crashing into a snowdrift!"
I could tell James was listening to me now.
"Remember the cleanliness competition?"
"Please don't bring that up!" said James.
"I recall that you got covered in coal after you reversed, and that led me and Thomas to win the competition!"
James snorted at me.
"I got a really good example for you! Remember when Sir Topham Hatt got sick, and Lady Hatt left you in charge?"
"Yes! You got painted into a busy bee!"
Now James was crosser than ever.
"That was embarrassing! Everyone laughed at me!"
"Okay." I said, "tell me a time where you were really useful?"
The rest of the day, was silent...
