Title: It's Time

Summary: Draco comes to tell Harry the war has arrived. Oneshot, mild slash.

Disclaimer: I own nothing of Harry Potter.

A/N: Just a short oneshot I decided to write the other day. Contains just a little hint of Harry/Draco slash. It's set in the summer before sixth year after the mess at the Ministry and Draco's on the light side. HBP never happened.

It's Time

Privet Drive was cast intothe night shadows lightly lit by the few street lamps forming circles of light on the street. All was quiet as every family was safely tucked away in their houses. Just like sixteen years earlier, a stranger appeared at the entrance of the street, out of thin air, breaking into a run andheading towards Number Four.

Sixteen years ago, it had been an aged old man with long silver hair, an equally long silver white beard, big, long robes and sparkling blue eyes. This time, Albus Dumbledore was busy elsewhere in the world. Instead, it was a tall, lean boy with silky blond hair who hurriedly made his way down the peaceful street as his footsteps echoed loudly in the silence, only stopping to breathe when he reached his destination.

The Dursleys were all asleep and dreaming in their warm, comfortable beds; the sound of Dudley's snores filled the second floor. Harry lay awake in his bed with his eyes shut tight and palm pressed to his scar, as if trying to erase or numb the pain. Something wasn't right, and he knew it.

As if on cue, a frantic, loud banging at the door startled Harry and woke the Dursleys.

As they made their way downstairs, Uncle Vernon growled and cursed at whoever dared to cause such a disturbance in the middle of the night. Harry, whose room was closest to the stairs, reached the door first and opened it, only to be shocked by who he saw.

"Draco!"

Harry threw himself into the pair of open arms. Draco held on tight. Harry kissed the other boy, not taking any notice of the taste of blood coming from the cut on Draco's lip. He wiped it, leaving it clean for two seconds before more blood came up.

"Ewww! Dad, do something!" Dudley whined, reminding Harry and Draco that they weren't alone.

"Who are you? Get out of here!" Vernon ordered. Draco ignored him and turned back to Harry, wand in hand.

"It's time," he said as he stroked Harry's face. Harry nodded and ran upstairs.

"Time for what?" Uncle Vernon asked Draco suspiciously, but Aunt Petunia didn't give him time to answer.

"The war is finally here then, is it?" she asked Draco as Harry came back down the stairs fully dressed with his wand in hand. Draco nodded, letting her know that she was right, while Dudley and Vernon gaped at her, stunned by her sudden display of knowledge of the wizarding world. She ignored them and turned to her nephew.

"Be careful, and come back to us safely," she said, kissing him on the forehead. "Your parents would be proud," she added before letting him go. "Be careful. Both of you," she repeated before Harry took Draco's hand and they Disapparated to go fight the final battle of the war.
