"Deathmarch"
A Wallace versus the bandits fic. Because someone, somewhere, at some time wanted one.

In silence he came bearing death to his foes.
It was not a normal time, nor was it a normal battle. The odds were vastly against him, but he thought nothing of such trivialities. Defeat did not exist in his mind, therefore it was not an option. His path of carnage began in the gentle foothills, their grassy slopes a prelude to the massive granite formations that lay ahead of him.
It did not matter one whit; Wallace had committed himself to this fight and he would see it through to the end. The first band of victims fell upon him from a poorly planned ambush. As they rushed towards him, the lone knight waited in silence. And when they were within his reach, he crushed them to the sound of their own cries.
He had no one to impress here, no young knights to teach, and no one to watch out for. His mission was as simple as it was clear; the Taliver Bandits would die so that Madelyn's daughter could live. Justice would free her soul from the burden of revenge and sate the angry ghosts that haunted her past. Until the last of the fiends spilled blood as the payment for their crimes upon the land and peace could once more inhabit this corner of the world, Wallace would be that justice.
There was no sign upon the bodies of the fallen to guide his path, so the aged knight turned his face towards the higher peaks. There was no hurry - his foe would come to him as he forged a path onward and he would deliver them to death until they fled before his passing. And where they fled, he would follow; his spear would cut terror into their very souls, his presence would be the bell that tolled for the dead.
Where once Taliver had been the feared word in the region, Wallace would become the new terror for any who practiced evil from this mountain fastness.
He would write the name of their fear in their own blood and pave for them a way to hell.
Silent as the grave, Wallace marched on and left the bodies of his foes in his wake...
