BAM!
She feels the air being knocked out of her and her head spins as she is slammed onto the table. She is still dizzy but she quickly gets up and backs away from the snake like laugh. Orochimaru is holding a syringe with a neon greenish liquid and laughing at her attempts to get away.
"You can run, but you can't hide."
More maniacal laughing.
For every step that he takes forward she takes one step back. There is fear in her eyes and her body is battered from being beaten. Her curse seal hurts like a white hot knife stabbing her. She tries to take another step back but she can't, her back is up against the wall. Orochimaru's evil grin gets wider and he is about to inject the contents of the syringe into her
NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
"Sayuri!! Are you okay?" Kankuro asks with a worried look on his face.
There is no Orochimaru. There is no syringe with a neon greenish liquid. I am in my apartment in Suna. It was all just a dream.
However, the pain of the curse seal is real. I look at my hands and realize that it has spread to my entire body. Hot tears prickle my eyes from the blinding pain. I silently curse Orochimaru as I cough up blood.
I feel a pair of strong arms around my waist. I bury my face into Kankuro's chest, inhaling his scent and savoring the warmth of his body. He puts a hand over the curse mark. The pain subsides a little, and I can feel it beginning to retreat.
I don't ever want it to end. I just want to sit here and hold him and let him hold me while he whispers comforting things into my ear. His love is all I will ever need to face the pain of the past and the pain that the future may bring.
I love you too, Kankuro.
