A Lion's courage

'You can do this. You're a Gryffindor.' He thought to himself.

His glanced in her direction and sighed inwardly. She was beautiful. His eyes lingered on the blue tint her black hair always seemed to shine with to her shocking blue eyes. He felt the corner of his lip twitch upward in a smile to mirror the one she currently had on her face. Neville leaned against the wall as he watched Kagome laugh at something Cho Chang said before they walked in opposite directions. Taking a deep breath, Neville made his way towards the Asian Hufflepuff.

"K-Kagome! Wait up!"

Kagome stopped at the entrance of hallway before turning. She blinked and smiled softly. "Neville? Did you need something?" She looked at the pink hue on his face as the male hunched forward, his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. She giggled softly. She had always found Neville to be a sweetheart. She was always impressed with his knowledge in Herbology but he was also so timid.

Across the way, two males huddled in the corner as they silently watched their Gryffindor housemate. "Ten galleons says he chickens out." Ron whispered to Harry as they tried to remain undetected.

Harry glanced at Neville, who had finally caught his breath and clenched his hands in a fist in a nervous manner.

"Deal."

"What are you two doing?" The two boys jumped slightly, startled by the sudden appearance of Hermione. Ron quickly grabbed her arm, pulling her closely against his body before motioning to be silent.

"We're watching Neville. I bet Harry ten galleons that Neville chickens out on confessing to Kagome." Hermione blushed, her eyes looking at how close her body was pressed against Ron's before leaning away to get a closer look at the scene before them.

"Kagome, I j-just, I..." Nevile began to stutter, his hands clenching tighter the more nervous he got. He watched her tilt her head to the side in that adorable fashion that she usually did when confused. His eyes flickered down to her lips before he made eye contact with her. It was now or never.

"Neville?" Kagome questioned him quietly.

"Oh bollocks," she heard him mutter under his breath before his left hand was placed on her hips to pull her body closer. "I've been wanting to do this to you all year," he whispered, his right hand gently cupping the back of her neck. He could her hear breath hitch as his lips ghosted lightly over hers. His right hand moving up to lace through her silken hair as her eyes fluttered closed. Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning up on her toes to gain a little height. She felt Neville brush his lips lightly against hers and she let out a small sigh of contentment. Neville looked down at Kagome sheepishly as a pink tint graced its way to her cheeks.

"Looks like you just lost ten galleons, Ron."

'No way!' Ron thought as he watched the couple snog in the empty hallway. 'The bloke bloody did it!'

AN: Because I never really see anything with Neville in it and you got to admit, he did grow up very nicely.
