Regular Pedigree

It wasn't until later that she realized it should have been Aang whom the new Avatar reminded her of, but it was a different person who dominated her thoughts as she looked at her.
She was most certainly her own person, alternately burning and flowing with original flair, but Katara saw so many things that reminded her of another. That creativity, that sense of humor, that stubbornness, the habitual lack of tact that went hand in hand with honesty. Often brazen, but so good-hearted.
I can't fly around.
She'd seen Korra launch herself into the air, spinning with furious precision. Now she watched her duck and roll under her challenger, choosing the lower path.
I'm just the guy in the group who's regular.
With extreme calculation, Korra knocked her heel against her airborne opponent's foot, destroying the other's control and balance without bending. Katara's already present smile broadened considerably.
They had met, years and years ago, before Korra had been confirmed as the new Avatar. She was certain that he had known. He'd never said anything outright, but he'd dropped a plethora of gleeful hints and had told Katara that she would figure it out in good time. When she did, she fully appreciated the joke he'd obviously cherished along with the, then, newest member of his family.
Each of you is so amazing and so special, and I'm not.
He'd gotten over his issues of self-worth, being recognized around the world as a strategist and war hero had definitely helped in that regard. Still, the facts of the new Avatar's ancestry could be appreciated both for their irony and, in Katara's opinion, absolute justice.
Korra whooped in exuberance before hastily assuming a stance and tone of voice that most would deem appropriate for the occasion.
Katara positively grinned, thinking of another who could be swept away in enthusiasm to the effect of looking less than dignified, but who still commanded startling focus, insight, and complete commitment.
It was really amazing how much of Sokka she could see in his great-granddaughter.
A/N: I have no idea if this is true or not, but the way Korra looks and acts seems suspiciously akin to Sokka, and I think it would be awesome if she was part of his bloodline.
